Publisher's Summary

A famous Russian ballerina lies dead in a downtown loft. No marks, no bruises. The suspects are many: spies, hit men, a gunrunner, and one of Hollywood's most powerful and mysterious film producers. Detective Sam Carver becomes entangled in a perilous reignited Cold War between Moscow and Washington. He chases leads from Europe to Africa.

But Carver faces other demons, too. He is haunted by Dylan Cross, a killer who got away a year earlier. She knows his secrets, whispers to him in his dreams. His obsession with Dylan threatens his new case and his relationship with Lily Hernandez, a uniform cop who wants to work as his partner.

Last Dance explores dangers within and without, and how we reconcile the damage, love, and things lost, in a Los Angeles that is as tempting and alluring as it is cruel and sinister.

Excellent book

The book is great. Channelling an inner virginia wolf stream of consciousness the novel tells a beautiful story beautifully. If the rest of the series were narrated by Ferrone I'd buy those too.

Good story that is ruined by left wing conspiracy theories

Good story but the author ruined it by the constant inclusion of left wing conspiracy theories regarding President Trump. The novel doesn't need the continual trashing of Donald Trump to be a good story. If libel laws were fair the author would find himself in court. I'm glad this was in the "plus" section. I won't waste a credit on the third book in the series since I know now what to expect.

Wow, Grisham and Conley move over

I’m so grateful this book was in the plus catalog for Audible. The depth of research, history, discovery, and pearls of wisdom are all present in this book. He opens our insight to the politics and possible inner workings of Russia, artists of a higher level, and the every day life of people dealing with Alzheimer’s and the gifts that they can give to their caregivers, as well as the psychological insights of people and how they deal with Trama-sometimes in a vigilante way that empowers them and others to certain forms of justice moving throughout the book. hope he writes a book or series of the pearls of wisdom brought to light in this worlds new holacost of the corruption, manipulations, propaganda and future justice for all the people around the world that have died needlessly and current and future generations that will suffer needlessley. Most important, future virtuous changes/insights to our world, so these holocausts don’t happen it again. Regardless, thank you for the pearls of wisdom you awaken people too.

political commentary

If I wanted political commentary in my fiction, I would watch the news on TV.

Loved it

I was immersed. I didn't want it to end. Ferrone is the perfect match for this intriguing "who done it".

Story very slow and political in nature

I love reading crime stories and who done it’s. But, leave your personal politics out of the story (just saying). It added nothing to the subject matter at all and was just an distraction.
I think in the future if you write from a neutral political position or become a political writer and at that point I have the option of never wasting my time on reading it at all.

Somewhat a disappointment

I really enjoyed first book even though
The author had to keep slapping you with his political views
But this story just seemed to drag on and on and on in places
