Publisher's summary

The King of the Eon Warriors has decided to take a Terran as his bride…but finds himself shockingly attracted to the tough, beautiful Space Corps officer in charge of his potential brides' security.

King Gayel Solann-Eon is dedicated to his people and empire. His father was a hard man and a rigid king, but Gayel is doing things his own way. That includes working with his allies to defeat the ravenous insectoid Kantos. To strengthen the alliance with Earth, he’ll put his own wants and needs aside and take a Terran bride. But as the group of bridal candidates arrive on the Eon homeworld, he’s shocked by a stunning attraction to the Space Corps officer in charge of their security.

Captain Alea Rodriguez has worked hard to escape her awful childhood and make something of herself. The Space Corps is her family and her work is her life. Escorting a group of women to an alien planet so a king can pick a bride has left her feeling like she’s on a reality television show. But she takes her job seriously and will keep them safe. What she never expected was her own powerful reaction to the alien warrior king.

Stealth attacks by the Kantos make it clear that no one is safe. Alea is sure that the aliens want to assassinate Gayel, and she’ll do anything to protect him, even as she fights to safeguard her heart. But Gayel is a king and a warrior, and as the two of them fight side by side, he will also convince Alea to risk everything: for their people, for their hearts, and for a bond that won’t be denied.

The thrilling conclusion to the Eon Warriors series.

Like ‘The Bachelor’—on steroids!!

4.5 stars

I’ve had this book in my library for a while, but didn’t realize that I hadn’t listened to it yet. So I started it yesterday afternoon—had to be pulled away from it for dinner—and finished it last night before midnight. It was exciting and filled with tons of action! King Gayel Solann-Eon wants to solidify his commitment to being allies with Earth, so he agrees to look over ten high-achieving women selected for him from Earth and pick one to be his queen. Naturally, they flirt and fluff their hair and wear lots of perfume and tight clothes. Still, he’s drawn to Captain Alea Rodriguez, who is tasked with keeping the women safe. She’s excellent at her job in the Space Corps, but believes she is damaged goods: her parents were drug addicts who were murdered as a result of their poor choices. Then she was sent to live with a bitter and hateful aunt, who solidified her inferiority complex. So she has accepted that she is unworthy and ‘less than’ others. She really hates the idea of the parade of women that Gayel has to choose from, but she knows they are far better qualified to be queen than she is, even though she is drawn to Gayel and they work well together.

The Kantos are busy making trouble for the Eon in this story. They are an alien race made up of insect-like creatures of various sizes ranging from tiny to huge. There are so many more of them than there are of the humans, Eon warriors, and other allies that help them in the battle. And there is an epic battle—so be ready! Naturally, help arrives exactly when needed most. And an important discovery aids the warriors as well…

This audiobook has a lot of tension and a really fast pace toward the end. It’s exciting and engaging and will keep you awake if you listen before bed. The recording is well-done and is free from obvious extraneous noises in the recording.

King Gayel: galactic bachelor

Love the premise of this, as well as the snafu of having your main man fall for one of the security detail bringing the eligible ladies to meet him. Oh, and having to fight all kinds of fires along the way.

As always, Anna tells a story I don't want to end.

The King of the Eon

Very similar story to the other books. I am tired of the women not feeling as if they are worthy. How can they be all that and 3 bags of Doritos and be so down on themselves? I’m over it!!

Good close but choppy

Overall this story was better than I expected. It was a much better balance between romance and action. What I didn't like was how some of the scenes were just thrown in but didn't really connect with the story/relationship flow - The Ball and the Hunt are good scenes, but just make no sense with their relationship progression. Regardless, it was an good story.

I didn't listen to all the books (only the first 3 and this one) and I had no issues following along with the characters and events. Would recommend it as a stand alone, but think it would be best paired with at least book 1.

cheeey and I love it!

So with all the Anna Hackett books, the dialogue is a bit cheesy sometimes and the same words and phrases are used throughout the books well all the books but I still enjoy her writing mostly and the stories. Its all very formulaic and the women and men are all the same but the action is pretty good and I do enjoy reading these even though at times I do roll my eyes. The narrator is great but wish there was a dual narration, just personal preference.

Loved It

I loved this book and the whole series. I did not expect the war to end the way it ended. There were definitely a bunch of twists and turns in the book. I hope Anna Hackett will write more in this universe. I loved this whole series.

Exciting conclusion

As someone who has read and loved all the books in this series, this book was the icing on the cake. I loved both King Gayel and Captain Alea, who had to figure out how their roles, pasts and responsibilities fit in with their obvious attraction and eventually, love for each other. The war with the Kantos finally reaches an end and I absolutely found the resolution fantastically clever and exciting. Overall, a great story that sets us up for the next series too. I can’t wait!

I read the ebook first but then decided to relive the book through the audiobook and it was so well done. I would have loved a dual narration but even by herself, Vivienne Leheny did fantastic with her pacing and voice modulations. Excellent read and a great way to relive the story!

Both Narrator and Story were Fantastic

I’m at the point where if I see Vivienne Leheny’s name as the narrator, no sample is needed. I know automatically that she is going to nail the narration, and this is yet another perfect example of nailing it.

I appreciated the different spin, and the clean way of tying things up for the Eon, Terrans and Kantoss. I love Anna Hackett’s writing and this story did not disappoint.

Great story. Great narration

Anna Hackett is one of my favorite authors. Her stories are filled with action and impossible situations that have happily ever endings . It is amazing how many different voices Narrator is able to produce In this narration. She definitely brings the story to life. I highly recommend this audio recording.
