Publisher's Summary

Dr. Dylan Reinhart and Detective Elizabeth Needham reunite to stop the most sinister plot against New York City since 9/11.

The murder of an Ivy League professor pulls Dr. Dylan Reinhart out of his ivory tower and onto the streets of New York, where he reunites with his old partner, Detective Elizabeth Needham. As the worst act of terror since 9/11 strikes the city, a name on the casualty list rocks Dylan's world. Is his secret past about to be brought to light?

As the terrorist attack unfolds, Elizabeth Needham does something courageous that thrusts her into the media spotlight. She's a reluctant hero. And thanks to the attention, she also becomes a prime target for the ruthless murderer behind the attack.

Dylan literally wrote the book on the psychology of murder, and he and Elizabeth have solved cases that have baffled conventional detectives. But the sociopath they're facing this time is the opposite of a textbook case. There's no time to study for the test he's about to give them. And if they fail, they die.

Terrorism in NYC...

This book is excellent! I was completely engrossed in this story from beginning to end. Espionage, terrorism and action. Who could ask for anything more? Dylan Reinhart is the main character. College professor, ex CIA, gay , married and father to an adopted one year old daughter. When bombs detonate in NYC his husbands out and about with their daughter and supposed to be on the vicinity of one of the bombs. This sparks Dylan’s involvement into a twisted terrorism scheme to once again target NY. Very entertaining and fast paced. A few surprises from characters who are not what they seem. Edoardo Ballerini does an outstanding job narrating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

Very Slow Start

this book has a slow start, which made it hard-to-get into, but was good after 1/4 of the way through.

A Fantastic Read

Killer Instinct was exciting audio book! I rarely listen to a book in less than two days but Killer Instinct was an exception. I listened to it on three different devices ( iPad,cell phone and my Alexa Smart Device). I just couldn’t put it down. It irritated my granddaughter a little bit because I listened while I was walked my her to and from her bus stop (6 blocks) 😋. I love the author, narrator and protagonist ( go Dillon). The story-line was somewhat believable and the action was non-stop. Thanks for an exciting experience.

Usually a fan

I’ve read almost all of his books and co author books- this one just didn’t seem to flow for a storyline... for me! Always be a fan and keep reading James Patterson. I think this would have been a better read then listen.

Not my favorite

Nothing new here. Quite predictable and one note. It was refreshing that no real love story was included. Previous reviews have made an issue of main character’s personal relationship/family but it was a very minor part of the book.
