EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Those are Jackson Jennings Jr.’s three mantras. His entire life, he’s been a trained athlete with only one endgame: the Pros. No girls. No parties. No alcohol.
EAT. SLEEP. FOOTBALL.
Repeat.
Every Friday night, Triple J cruises the strip on campus, bored, lonely, and conditioned not to party. But the night he meets Charlotte Edmonds on the side of the road, he wonders if his three mantras will ever be enough.
BIG. DUMB. JOCK.
Charlie has no time for Jackson’s antics. Not when he’s stealing her food or teases her to no end, making her tingle in all the right places. But if she’s ever going to have a boyfriend, she’d choose one who isn’t a Neanderthal. One with manners and actual time to spend with her. Not a hulking man-child who cruises the strip at night in his Big. Dumb. Truck.

Jackson is cute for a big football fella. I think what threw me a little was when she would repeat his words in his accent the male narrator made her sound like she was dumbing him down and I don’t think that was what she was doing.
I might need to pick up the book and read through a few pages to see.
Overall the story was interesting and kept me engaged. I would like his one football teammates story, the one that gave me the good advice about family.

I've really loved this series so far, but my complaint for Jock Row as well as this book, is that they are much too short and feel mildly incomplete.
Let's start off with all the good things.
The FEELS, oh the feels. This book was so sweet and funny. It definitely wasn't angsty, so do not go into this expecting that. Although, I feel like if you've read the first two books you'll know not to expect angst because it's not a theme in this series. I loved Jackson and Charlie's chemistry. It was a fairly slow burn so there was definitely time for it to develop at a natural pace. I loved their meet cute at the beginning of the book and their subsequent random encounters throughout. Charlie gave Jackson so much lip for being a jerk that it had me cracking up. Jackson's sometimes naivety to his entitlement was kind of hilarious at times.
Charlie was a really fun character because, like I said previously, she didn't hold back. She was very honest with her feelings and opinions with Jackson, even if they sometimes took a minute for her to say them. She was also willing to go at a slow enough pace for Jackson while still pushing him out of his comfort zone inch by inch. One thing that absolutely drove me crazy about her, was her constantly mentioning and making fun of Jackson's accent. We get it, you find his accent adorable and funny. If I was Jackson, I would have started to get offended or annoyed by it. It was that often.
Jackson was adorable. He was so naive because of how sheltered he was growing up and he was so awkward. I liked that he admitted to his flaws and really took to heart when Charlie pointed out when he was being a jerk.
So what I didn't like. As I said before, it felt short. I feel like Charlie and Jackson's story was not done yet. There was so much more that could have been done with it. There were questions that were left unanswered. I don't feel like Jackson had any resolution with his family and I don't feel like anything changed just because of the one, singular conversation. We also never find out what happens to Jackson and Charlie post-college. The epilogue is them still in college. What happens with the draft? The internship? It's definitely a HFN, not a HEA. I was just left feeling dissatisfied.
The narration was fantastic. Ava Erickson and Jacob Morgan bring the characters to life. Both of them have excellent reading voices and always bring a lot of emotion into the characters. I love when this duo come together to narrate a book!
Despite my grumblings, I still recommend this book and I'll definitely read it again. It was truly a really sweet book and I just like how well Sara Ney flushes out her characters. She's fantastic at writing chemistry and the sex scenes in this book were HOT. If you've liked the previous two books, you'll definitely like this one, but it probably won't be your favorite of these series. Definitely dive into this one, though!
Fun read!

It’s low angst, but you hear of the pressure Jackson goes through being a top college athlete. The disconnect he has with his family. The isolation he finds himself in and how he tries to keep his roots without totally realizing he’s holding himself back.
Charlie is just great. A young woman who is charmed by Jackson, but serves him sass. I love the way she’s written. Possibly one of my fave female characters.
Ava and Jacob do a great job in narrating this. Jacob nails his southern accent (fans know why) and I just loved hearing him do the mocking conversations. Ava was a great casting choice. She just embodied Charlie so well.
4.5 stars.
A slow, funny and sweet love story.
