Monopolizing

This is book two in the Jet Series. Jet is the code name of Mossad’s greatest female operative. At the end of book one Jet discovers her daughter was not dead but living with an adopted family in the USA.

Jet flies to the States to obtain her daughter and just after stealing her she is apprehended by the CIA. They insist she assassinate the “White Devil”, a former CIA agent and also obtain the 50 million dollars’ worth of diamonds he stole from them. Apparently he is running a large criminal organization in Thailand. The story then moves to the streets and jungles of Thailand and Myanmar; she finds the story is not what it seems to be.

The book is well written and the plot twists and turns keeping the reader alert as does the fast pace action. The suspense builds throughout the story. As with book one it helps, at times, to suspend belief and just enjoy the story. Looking forward to book three in the series.

Braden Wright does a good job narrating the story. Wright is an actor, voice over artist and audiobook narrator.

The ultimate kick-ass female espionage agent

JET was Mossad's most successful agent before leaving. Now she just wants to live her life with her young daughter, but fate requires much, much more of her. JET is one deadly operative. Most espionage thriller authors write one or maybe two book each year. Russell Blake averages six or more. This means he does most of his research online rather than by visiting the actual locals. The quality of Blake's work is very high. Great espionage thrillers combine outstanding character development and suspense, intense and sustained. Blake is as good as anyone at writing superb espionage thrillers. He utilizes the talents of actor Braden Wright as narrator of the JET series. The JET series books are fun listening. If one is looking for a comparison to JET I suggest the Beatrix Rose series by British author Mark Dawson. I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND JET II; Betrayal.

Another Edge of Your Seat Thriller

A home run by Mr. Blake, who has a knack of weaving words together in a mesmerizing way. Narration was great, but the story's the star here. Go, Jet, go! Love this series so far.

Well Worth The Read

In Jet I, the character and story both took a bit too long to develop. Jet seemed to be simply another one dimensional super assassin with extraterrestrial skills and impossible luck. In time, Blake did get around to developing a fun, exciting story with interesting characters, including Jet.

Though it's helpful to listen to (read) Blake's Jet books in sequence, Jet II can be read as a stand alone. Again, the plot is fun, fast-paced and supported by very good (extremely evil & despicable) villains. Though it's no big surprise that these villains are sure to share the same fate, you can't help but cheer for their just rewards.

Braden Wright is an excellent reader capable of a range of voices for varied age, gender and nationality. He reads with a good sense of pace and transitions plot settings very well. Someone should proof a few of his pronunciations, however. For example, gaping is pronounced "gay-ping" not "gah-ping". Wright also described the possibility of gruesome torture as to fill-it (fillet) someone. For welding and woodworking, "fill-it" is OK - but for cooking "fill-ay" is correct. As mentioned, however, Wright is a really good performer.

*** SPOILER ALERT***

It seems a shame that both male allies in Jet I & II have to die. Though flawed, each of their characters were interesting and complex enough to seemingly have value in future stories.I suppose it males sense that Jet can't be "tied down" - but ...

Jet II

It gets better and better. Jet is coerced into working with the CIA in order to get her daughter back. Being a Blake novel, there were intense moments and action. Well written!
