Publisher's summary

Aurora

It started with a stolen kiss. A brief flirtation between two strangers. Until reality intruded. He was a part of the Irish mob, and my father had other plans for me.

In the three years since, I’ve lived in a hell of secrets and lies, leaving me a broken, shattered version of my former self. Then, I come face to face with Jack again. The man who will either become my savior or my destruction.

Jack

My Irish family has spent years rescuing women trafficked by the Polish mafia. I’ve been a protector. A defender. Saved countless women.

A twist of fate puts a woman from my past directly in my path. When I discover she’s in danger, I’ll destroy anyone in order to save her, too.

Lifting up the one's you love

Jack and Aroura share a kiss before she is married off by her father. Three years later Jack still hasn’t gotten her out of his head but when they meet again, she’s a shell of the woman she once was. Jack is determined to get answers and if he has to burn everything his family has built down to save her, he will. This story had my attention and I couldn’t wait to see if Jack saved the girl or the girl saved him.

Enjoyable!

Narrators did a good job telling the story and giving the charracters a voice
This is the first book i have listened to but is the fourth in the series, but can be read/listen to as a standalone.
I enjoyed listening to this story and look forward to going back and reading/listening to the other books in the story. Loved how fiesty the FMC was at the begining as when they first met and the MC kissed her she kneed him in the balls. Years later he sees her again and she is not the same woman she was before.

Such A Great Book

This is the story of Aurora and Jack. His family is a group that has spent generations rescuing women who have been kidnapped by the Polish Mafia. He is a protector to his very core and I really loved that about him. He defends and the women they have rescued are countless. But years ago he had a flirtation and a stolen kiss with Aurora and she did not realize he was part of the Irish Mob. That kiss meant something to him and he has never been able to forget it. You can imagine his shock when after three years he sees her again and she isn't alone. She is married to a man and he is old enough to be her grandfather. Aurora has never forgotten Jack either and has lived a life that is the stuff nightmares are made of. She has never told anyone ever what she has endured at the hands of this monster. But one day she can't take it anymore and has to tell someone. Jack however finds her in desperate need to protecting and he is going to do it if it is the last thing he ever does. Can he get the job done and save her or is she destined to live the nightmare until she takes her last breath? You have to listen to find out. I loved this book. It kept me one the edge of my seat a lot of the time and the characters are just amazing.

Quick and addictive

This was a fun, dark read which gripped me from the start with infuriating tones and well-developed leads. Converted me into an instant Shaw fan—I can’t wait to read more in this world and all their others.

It definitely brightened my day, as I’m sick and was searching for motivation to get up and get to work—thanks for getting me going!

It manages to pack some fun tropes:

💚 Forced proximity.
🖤 Forced marriage.
💚 Abus!ve spouse.
🖤 Suspense.
💚 Bodyguard romance.
🖤 Pseudo-captivity.
💚 Second-chance romance.

Overall: 4 stars.

Captivating!

This is the fourth book in the Brooklyn Kings Series, a Mafia Romance. Aurora and Jack's story is emotional, and entertaining, filled with danger, and twists and turns. Aurora is such a beautiful and strong character. Her story is heartbreaking. Jack is handsome, protective, and supportive. The storyline is captivating. This is an excellent slow burn romance. Curt Bonnem and June deBorahae did an outstanding job bringing this story to life. This is a great team author/narrators. I highly recommend this series. #PFPAudio

A perfect mix...

A perfect mix of heartbreaking, hope giving, resilence, instant chemistry yet slow burn... Jack and Aurora "Rory" have this amazing love story set within a mafia world they were both born into, full of arranged marriages and inherited obligations. But luckily for them fate had better plans even if the road there had to be filled with overwhelming trauma, blood, and desperation. Jack was such an amazing man for her with his patience in knowing what she needed, and dedication in giving her back control of her life even if it meant he needed to take a backseat. And she grew so much, overcoming her past traumas and blooming into the woman she should've had the chance to be all along. Love that Jack's family dedicate themselves to rescuing trafficked women and destroying those vile men that believe in this horrific industry. Narration to bring it to life.

🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽

Mafia is one of my favorites & this story didn’t disappoint. This was one of my first books by this author & definitely won’t be my last. Jake was a hottie with a heart of gold & Rory overcame her sad start. These narrators were great & sounded so good together!

Book 4 - The Donnellys

This is book 4 in Shaw's The Donnellys series and another great addition to the series but can be read as a standalone. Our main characters are Aurora and Jack. I love that their initial meeting is fleeting but powerful and stays with both our main characters and effects them both as time progresses. Aurora is promised to marriage by her father to an older man who turns out to be severely abusive. Jack and his family have a soft spot in their hearts for abused women but even with that there is something about Aurora that effects Jack deeply and he is willing to go to war if that's what it takes to save Aurora from her husband - but will it come to that?!? Some dark elements but woven with hope and a beautiful ending that is heartwarming. Sweet with some steam and I love Jack's gentle yet possessive nature. Wonderful dual narration that delights and brings these characters and emotions to life. Well written and smooth flowing storyline with an ending that will shock and have you eager for the next in this series!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

Irish Devil

Irish Devil is the 4th book in the Brooklyn Kings series. This book is told from both points of view of Jack and Aurora.

I haven't read the first three books in the series, but I'd love to go back and read them. I enjoyed this book and getting to know Jack and Aurora.

Jack met Aurora and instantly felt an attraction to her. Now 3 years later, he comes upon her again and realizes she's not the same person who she used to be. Jack will do whatever he has to have her old self come back. There were twists I didn't see coming.

I loved getting to know these two characters and their banter was funny. I can not wait to see what happens next with Paddy's story!
