Publisher's summary

He finds his true love, but can an instant family really be what he wants?

Just as oncologist Dr. Allen delivers a baby girl into the world, the mother dies, dimming Allen's typical sunny disposition. Desperate and determined to do something to help just one person, Allen agrees to help Brantley. He's in danger of having his asylum revoked, which will send him right back to an unsafe situation.

But when Allen agrees to "fake it" and pretend that Brantley is his lover, he has no idea what he's in for. As feelings grow deeper between them, the two men cannot resist the passion that ignites them. However, the timing just couldn't be worse. Allen's fighting to adopt his late patient's daughter, while the sword of ICE threatens to destroy them. Can the two men turn something fake into the real love they've both always wanted?

In this gay mpreg romance novel, two men discover that happily ever afters aren't just for fairy tales. When one man is asked to pretend to love another, he learns firsthand what true love is all about.

With steamy scenes and loyal, intelligent, and sexy men, this novel will have you begging for a physical of your own. And when one man discovers he's pregnant, you'll see just how "playing house" can turn into making a home.

Another great book!

I really enjoyed this book. This series has just the right mix of sweet and dramatic. The characters are not perfect but perfectly lovable. I really like seeing how the characters grow throughout the book.

Faux love ❤️

This two men arranged to be together and had people blocking them. Finally it was them putting up road blocks. I would of liked the story more with a different narrator , the voices used were often squeaky. The accents weren’t that great. But good effort.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Interesting story...

Instant Family is the fourth book in the Silver Oak Medical Center series by Aiden Bates. This is a very interesting and entertaining story - a fake relationship turns real and immigration drama theme. Allen and Brantley are great characters and their story gave me feels, made me smile and even pulled a few chuckles out of me.

Narrated by Kaeomakana Tiwanak. Clear recording and good voicework. A couple voices were a bit awkward but overall good audiobook experience.

Not my favourite in a series that I really love

So, why not my favourite story? Let's start with what I liked: I liked the characters and the way they were presented. I liked the overall story-line about immigration and homophobia.

What I didn't like is how over the top were the bad guys, nor the way the relationship developed between Allen and Brantley. The reason why they had unprotected sex was just... stupid. And they aren't stupid men.

And about the baddies... I want to believe that, after their first stunt the immigration agents would have been, at least, suspended pending investigation due to their unlawful procedures. The harassment was obvious, so... why there they still on the streets with their badges? That, right there, killed a lot of my enjoyment of the story.

Kaeomakana Tiwanak did a better job than the previous one I've listened by him, but I still find lots of his voices annoying, and not realistic.

I stuck it out

but the narration really ruins the story, which is not bad at all but OMG the voices are just terrible.

Great story

I absolutely love this series! I got a little frustrated with the main couple in this book, but I still liked it a lot. Immigration is not a topic I encountered a lot in MPreg romances so far, so I really enjoyed it.
While Kaeomakana Tiwanak is not one of my preferred narrators, he did a pretty good job on this audiobook. I just didn’t like the voice he gave some of the side characters. I think I would have preferred it if some voices were repetitive than for the sake of each character getting a different voice, using the one he gave Dr. Carter for example, his I really couldn’t stand. But since the main characters were fine, I didn’t mind too much.

Allen & Brantley

MM. Allen is so sweet, caring, and trusting. So much so his own sister takes advantage of him and will not acknowledge it. When Brantley is hounded by two ICE Agent who are about to send him back to his country and certain death, Allen steps in to help. Their situation forces Brantley to open up more than he ever has to any person, or man. Allen gets to be involved with a side of him that no one else has encountered. Both have their issues and that does not help the precarious situation they are in.

Abuse of Authority

Brantely was sent to America by his parents for his safety. Being gay in Jamacia is very difficult for a teenager. Brantley went to medical school to become a doctor.

After years of being in the US, and becoming a respected doctor of Silver Oak Medical Center, he is on the fast tract to being deported back to Jamacia for not being "gay enough."

The agents harrass Brantley, threatening both him and his family. A coworker steps up to be his pretend boyfriend. The agents blackmail the two men into an intimate relationship before they are ready.

Not knowing whom to trust, or who would care about Brantley's predicament, the two men are forced to cede to the agents demands.

What neither of the two MCs realize is that Silver Oak has eyes everywhere. Help is on its way...

Narrator Kaeomakana Tiwanak does a really good Jamacian accent. It was fun listening to him.
