Publisher's summary

Inside Affair is book one of the Prime Time Series trilogy and must be listened to in order.

Xander

If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be: A surly, temperamental pain in my ass. Never in that equation would I ever include the word boyfriend - and not just because he’s straight.

The older brother of my life-long best friend, Sean is a detective for the Chicago PD, and is also known as Detective “Dick” for being...well, a surly, temperamental pain in everyone’s ass. He also happens to be the best they have, which is why I find myself on his doorstep the night my life is threatened by an anonymous stalker.

I only wanted the name of a bodyguard; I didn’t expect for Sean to volunteer for the job. Now, not only do I have a bodyguard, I also have a fake boyfriend.

Sean

It must be so hard to be Alexander Thorne, the number one prime-time news anchor in the country, with millions of dollars and a car that costs more than my house. I mean, I’m allowed to give him a hard time about it, but when some creep decides to cross the line and go after him, they’re gonna have to answer to me.

Going undercover has never been an issue in the past, so I don’t see why there’d be a problem now. Xander and I have known each other for years, so this should be a breeze. Except suddenly my stomach’s flipping when he looks my way, and my body comes alive whenever he brushes by me. I know I’m good at my job and playing a character and all, but this is getting out of hand.

I can’t be sure that either of us are playing anymore.

Shoddy narration

This narrator struggled to read fluently. He paused at random places in the middle of clauses and phrases as if he hadn’t realized that the thought continued on. He didn’t group words properly. This is typical of beginning readers and not what I would expect from a professional narrator. I also wasn’t a fan of the baritone quality of his voice. It sounded like the recording was done in a barrel which just emphasized the tone of his voice. It wasn’t pleasant to listen to. Sadly, this ruined the book for me. I couldn’t stand the weird narration.

Oh my god!!

This was really good but it ends in a cliffhanger. Be prepared for big emotions.

Slow, slow burn

I am a huge fan of Ella Frank, but this book left me confused. I really like the premise, but the execution is unexpected. The MC’s did not have the chemistry I am used to from her. I was turned off by Xander’s constant berating of Shawn. The attraction did not culminate until the last hour.

Charlie David gave a stellar performance as always.

Great start to a new series!

Ella has done it again, I loved this book and I am hooked! I started reading and then listened to the audiobook. I have to say, Charlie David did a great job. He really made me hear the sophistication of Xander and made Sean sound like a regular blue collar guy. There is a great push pull between these guys and a lot of good banter. I can’t wait to get more and I’m excited for more interaction with Henri and Bailey.

Amazing!!

Omg!! Sean and Zander are so good together. This book is amazing and so snarky. I love it. Can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Wow. Blinding! 🤩

Sweet mother mercy on air wearing a tutu!! Another new series from Ella Frank and it didn’t disappoint! She’s taking us into a glimpse of the world of live broadcasting. It’s fascinating the details she’s written into Xander’s world. A complete contrast of Sean’s.

This book got me on the feels. The tension between Sean and Xander has been there since the initial phone call. Just like both of them, I was really starting to think “how could these two get together??” But then again, there’s always a fine line between attraction and animosity, or so they say.

It was something to watch these two’a relationship switch gears, gradually but I gotta give it to Sean, when he’s in, he’s all in. It’s refreshing to meet a character who even if he’s unsure, he doesn’t push and pull. It’s what I love most about Xander and Sean’s budding relationship.. it’s the cautionary stop, but there’s no hot or cold. It’s smooth and no unnecessary angst inner monologue.

The sexual tension and attraction is so thick, you can cut it with a knife. The steamy scenes on this book isn’t as much (yet) compared to Ella’s previous books, but it doesn’t mean there isn’t one in this book.

I’m dying to see what’s in for us on the next book. The ending got me all teary and twisted because only Ella Frank would simultaneously make us swoon and weepy AND royally make us exercise patience because July isn’t here soon enough. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Charlie David’s narration is just awesome on this one. He’s one of my favorites and well, his performance on this book is another a reason for that. 👍🏼

...that narrator, though!

Of course the book was good. It's Ella. But that narrator make this story come alive. I'm finishing this rewiew then immediately going to search for more of his reads.

I could not stop listening! perfect marriage of story and performance. both the characters were endearing and they both had wonderful development.
But that ending though, total heart wrencher.

Such a ride!!

This story reminds me of a Rollercoaster ride...slow on the build-up, then boom...everything happens! Then you realize the ride is over and all you wanna do is get right back on and ride again.
