Publisher's summary

New Jersey prosecutor Sandy Moss is tired of petty criminals, and a new job at a glitzy Los Angeles law firm seems the perfect career move. Putting 3,000 miles between her and her ex-boyfriend is just an added bonus. But on Sandy's first morning as a family attorney, she inadvertently kills her new career stone dead when she offends her boss during a meeting with the firm's top celebrity client, charismatic TV star Patrick McNabb. But that's not as dead as Patrick's soon-to-be ex-wife is that evening when she's discovered shot by an arrow, her husband standing over her. Did Patrick really kill his wife in a dispute over a pair of shoes? All signs point to yes. But Patrick is determined to clear his name, using all the legal skills he's learned from playing a lawyer on TV, and to Sandy's deep dismay, she's the only person he'll let help him.

Disappointed

E. J. Copperman is one of my favorite authors and I was excited to listen to this new book Inherent the Shoes. Sadly I’m very disappointed and don’t see myself finishing the book. Sandy, the main character, is so preoccupied with who she’s going to jump into bed with next that it’s very distracting to the whole story. She just moved and changed jobs after sleeping with her previous boss (you learn about this right off so no spoiler alert here) was a disaster and she can’t wait to go to bed with her next person. In fact it seems with most men she meets that’s the first thing she considers. You really don’t get to know this character except she wants sex with whomever is willing.
If this was my first book from this author I would not listen to any others and that would be a real loss.

Disappointed

I am a big fan of the all the author’s other series, including the Haunted Guesthouse series (featuring ghosts), so to say this book is too unbelievable feels weird. But from the ridiculous instant romance to the extremely conspicuous lack of technology and the overtly racist bow and arrow joke, I can’t understand how this is from the past decade, let alone this year.

A lot of fun!

I really enjoyed this book, like most of E.J. Cooperman’s books. I was hesitant to start this series because one of the reviews made the main character seem completely sex crazed but she’s not. The character acknowledges it when a man is attractive (but doesn’t obsess over it) and considers seriously dating one of the attractive men. That does not make her obsessed with sex in my view. Shrug. But then different people see things differently. Can’t wait to start the next book in this series!

Slapstick

The narrator was great ! This is different from EJ's other books, all of which I have read. At 1st read I didn't like it but on the second read I did. I was expecting it to be like his others and this is totally different but very likable.

Sandy Moss

Sandy Moss moves from New Jersey to LA and on her first day is sitting in on a divorce settlement when she witnesses an argument between the divorcing parties and says something that draws the attention of the husband, Patrick McNabb. When Patrick McNabb is arrested for murder, he demands that the law firm allow Sandy to represent him. How Sandy and Patrick navigate his defense, trial and find the real killer makes for a great story. A great new series by a wonderful writer.

The humor and character development.

Another great book by E.J. Copperman! I hated that the narrator made his prose sound so wooden.

Like the humor

I listened to several other of this authors books, but this series and the Duffy series have so many relatable quips that it's fun to listen to over again 😄

A weak reading but....

...enjoyable nonetheless, though not up to the haunted guest house series. Worth a go, despite reservations as above
