Publisher's Summary

There's only one way to win this game: break the rules.

James "Barney" Barnwell is losing his ever-loving mind. Between the threat to the white shifters and a riddle he's been ordered to solve, he can't actually go for 10 whole minutes without thinking about Heather, the woman destined to be his mate.

As much as he burns to get the redhead under him, the safest place for her is far away from him. If the bad guys catch the barest hint of her scent on his skin, she'll become a target.

The way Heather sees it, the quicker she helps the stubborn Bear solve the riddle, the quicker he'll bite her - literally. But when she's hurt while protecting her cousin from an attack, she finds herself right where Barney never wanted her: smack dab in the middle of the investigation.

Like it or not, Barney is forced to bring her fully into his crazy world. With his mate's life in his hands, he's in a race against time to solve this maddening riddle before the enemy discovers that the hunter has finally been caught by love.

Warning: This audiobook contains explicit sex, graphic language, lots of questions, and maybe even some answers. Remember: Fox holds the key.

is this the end cause I hate to be left hanging

I had seriously hoped that this was going to be the end of the series since no book has come out in years. But....On to the discussion of this story. This story had some of the same problems as the last in the series. The book randomly added new characters not as extras but as secondary characters. The book didn't spend much time on the relationship between our primary characters. The majority of the story was spent developing the big plot. So here we come back to the major drawback with the series. There's no satisfactory conclusion to the big plot. This is one series that I should have gotten from the library.

No books for five years in this series.

AUDIBLE REVIEW 2021 No books for five years in this series. Listening to this in audible I have so many more questions than when I read this years ago. We really get the riddle taking centre stage in this book when Heather is working on it. Really, really unimpressed that there are no more books in this series. It has been five years since this book and we are left with so many questions with no answers. BOOK REVIEW Oh wow, this series is just getting more and more interesting. In this, book 5 we are getting closer to the truth of what is going on in regards to the white shifters and it is not good. Heather and Barney are great together despite her young age. Heather is level headed and a clear thinker which comes in handy when the Leo needs their help. This story just kept on flowing from book 4 so it didn’t feel like you were reading a different story but at the same time it did focus on Heather and Barneys’ mating. If you have not read this series do yourself a favour and do so. If you have not read anything by this author you’re are so missing out a great group of shifter people who just suck you into their lives. Whilst I am enjoying the direction this series it is much darker and heavier going and I miss the humour and energy the Halle Puma books had. They made me laugh out loud and feel good when I had finished them.
