Being an immortal rogue enforcer is never easy. But when human bones are found buried in a residential garden—and they happen to be discovered by your life mate—things get even more complicated in this latest installment of New York Times bestselling author Lynsay Sands’s wickedly alluring Argeneau vampire series.

Crispinus Delacort is an immortal rogue enforcer and a homicide detective. But in his quiet city, he’s more likely to be rounding up truant teens than investigating murders. So, when he learns that human bones have been found in the garden of a sprawling rural home, it’s unexpected to say the least.

Abril Newman can’t believe her bad luck when she discovers a body buried on the grounds of her boss’s home, while chasing after Gina’s mischievous lab Lilith. She was just supposed to be house-sitting for a few days! And then Detective Delacort arrives. She knows she shouldn’t be thinking about love when there’s a crime scene outside the door. But ignoring her attraction to gorgeous Crispin is easier said than done.

When Crispin realizes that a rogue is involved, he knows this won’t be a simple investigation. Especially because he’s so distracted by Abril’s presence that all he wants is to kiss her senseless in every room of the manor. But he can woo her, solve the case, and stop a dangerous rogue by morning...right? All in a day’s work.

I really love the Argeneau Novel series. It completely makes fun of old vampire stories and films and makes them into scientifically created Immortals. The shared pleasure, reawakening of food and sexual pleasure with life-mates, is a very fascinating idea.

A great audiobook

Lisa Flanagan does an excellent job bringing this amazing story to life. I don't know how Lynsay Sands does it. Each book in this series is exciting and new.

Immortal By Morning is no exception. I downloaded it last night and only managed 4 hours of sleep because I couldn't put it down. The Argeneau clan is hunting down rogues and saving mortals in action-packed excitement, mixed with scintillating romance, and some of giggles. Book 37 just came out and I am already jonesing for number 38.

37 is still not enough

The story is great. Sands turns out another delicious and exciting novel… and if it wasn’t for the AI sounding voice it would have been fantastic. Maybe just read it and avoid the audiobook.

I don’t know if it’s poor voice acting or an AI voice

I was really enjoying the book. The narrators were great and then it got towards the end and then all of a sudden it was over it kind of felt unfinished to me. I don’t wanna say why because I don’t wanna give it away but yeah, it was a very good book it just I don’t know if she’s planning to continue more of this their story or what it’s like it came to a partial finish others may feel differently

Felt unfinished

Not up to her usual story telling. For a 3000 year-old immortal instead of a 200 year-old immortal the male character did not show the respect, the discipline or the willpower to at least attempt to do the right things and there wasn't really that much of a storyline as compared to previous novels. It got extremely wordy in their descriptions getting off topicand just wasn't as fun or sensual as other books. There have only been two books in the entire series including this one that I felt were not something I would listen to again some of her books I have listened multiple times too so I will definitely continue to follow her! This one just almost felt like someone else wrote it.

Not up to her usual story telling.

I’ve read every Argeneau novel since the beginning, and the older ones were definitely stronger. What made them great was the ongoing through-line a big bad lurking in the background across multiple arcs which tied the books together so well.

Everything past about book 30–32 (with a few exceptions) has felt more self-contained, and while that’s fine for casual readers, it’s missing the layered, connected storytelling that kept me hooked. The last book set up an exciting new conflict with the uncles talking about powerful, ancient vampires in Europe who are much harder to fight. That’s exactly what I want to read about not a small serial killer case that gets solved in just a few days.

Also, the title Immortal by Morning feels like a poor representative of this book. It’s not a bad read, but compared to the best of the series, it just doesn’t have the same spark. I really hope Lynsay Sands brings back the bigger, long-term conflicts that made this series so addictive.

Longtime Fan, But Hoping for a Return to the Series’ Strengths

I love this series, but missed the usual banter between the usual crew. Lucian is a more complex character than comes across here, as are the others. The main couple also seemed a bit flat.

Not quite up to her usual level.
