Wary of strangers and afraid to step foot outside, the entire town hunkers down for dusk. The denizens have accepted the abductions and killings as a part of life, but Jamie and Thorsen refuse to kneel.

Elliott…loved him, then hated him, then loved him. What a character. Love all the twists and turns. And about time Jamie told Thorsen how she feels.

My favorite of the series!

Holy hell! I know that the story is pretty harrowing and frightening and chilling and exciting and interesting and I really wanted it to go on forever! Such great writing but also just great development of characters. Highly highly highly recommend!

implausible and confusing

poor characterization and an absurd plot. perhaps might have been better if I had read prior books in series.

Each successive story gets sillier.

The narrator carries these novels; I don’t think I could read them rather than listen to them. The decisions the characters make are utterly insane. They drive the plot along but they make no sense and are impossible to believe. Sometimes this can be fun - in this story, it’s just frustrating. Thorsen is supposed to be the good guy, but his decisions re: Elliot/Charie show how deeply dismissive of Jamie he is. It’s weird. I could go on, because I’m annoyed I purchased this audiobook, but there isn’t much point. If you like it and it doesn’t bother you, I’m happy for you. But be aware that it’s just increasingly silly.

Written by a man

This novel turned me off from the series. For starters I never buy female serial killers. I think they’re a male fantasy because I don’t think women really are like that. Also, this novel showed the writer’s fascination with weapons— way too much obsession with it. I think it’s faux feminism— men thinking that given equal rights women will become just as bad as they’ve been. But that doesn’t ring true. Also, since Jamie is fighting a female antagonist it’s traditional because even in the early days of female heroes they were allowed to only go after other women, although never being able to take on a Patriarch— where the real power is. Jamie is also saved by a man here and it becomes more about her relationships than her skill. I’ve had enough.
