Publisher's summary

When my girlfriend’s dad chased me out of her bedroom that Saturday evening, I never expected to end up transported to a world based on some sort of RPG System. But I guess that’s what happens when you're focused on avoiding the business end of a baseball bat and not paying attention to where you’re running.

To make matters worse, I managed to get myself indentured to some sort of dungeon god. That’ll teach me to not read the fine print. The job had some great perks though: an epic class, magic powers, and a smoking hot succubus that couldn’t get enough of me.

But there was a catch. The world was on the brink of some kind of oncoming apocalypse that my new boss thought I was somehow qualified to stop.

In my old life I probably would have lost my mind, but with my beautiful bondmate and a feisty redhead at my side, anything seemed possible. Even delving into a dungeon potentially full of void demons hell bent on devouring the world… or worse… spiders.

Funny and adventurous!

This was an absolute joy to listen to. I was funny and fun. It was exciting with relatable characters in unrelatable situations. Talk about making the best of a bad situation. Then you add in the narration talents of Reginald and Kattabelle, and you have a seriously winning combination. I had no idea what to expect with this book but I've been looking at it for a while and then just went for it. No regrets here. This book never lets you down, it does let you calm down but never lets you disengage from the story. I just wish the next 2 books were out so I could binge listen to more of this series.

happy happy happy

so many mcs start out op, and excels at combat with 0 experience. this mc has to train, and fails alot. mc has some plot armor to fall back on, but there is natural, consistent and completely believable progression. very nice to listen to

love books with humor

I do love stories with humor, and this has plenty. there are likable characters and interesting world building. The main character is smart and does his thing well. the performance is excellent can't wait for the second book.

Pretty good start

Pretty fun new series. I was hook from the start. Great dungeon diving, plenty of action plenty of spice to keep it fun. The narrators did a great job.

A fish out of water story

I received a free copy of this book to give my honest opinion, I will try to minimize spoilers. I've always been fond of the Warlock class, and this book does not disappoint. Now our MC has a bad case of culture shock, accidently making mistakes and sabotaging himself. But his stumbling is all part of the fun. Overall it's a fun story.

Check This One Out

Right up front before you read any further just know that I recommend this book to anybody thinking about giving it a shot. A little context for my review. I tend to take it easy on the first and last book of any series as not every series makes it to “The End” and the first of anything can be a shaky endeavor. This appears to be a whole new set of people. I've never come across the writer or the narration team before. This is the only audio book they have up on audible and the author only has two books up on Amazon with the second one being the sequel to this book. So, if you get to the ending of this one and can't wait for the next one to get the audio treatment, book two is available in eBook form. The most pressing question for the first of a new series is always whether or not I was entertained to which the answer was yes. I thought the narration team delivered a good performance and the writing was solid all the way around. Our main character is a senior in high school rounding the corner to the finish line. He's already got college set up and ready to go. We get introduced to him as he's fleeing the House of what appears to be his girlfriend. His girlfriend's father caught him playing hanky panky. Thinking that he's all in the clear he's shocked to find that daddio has followed him in the family car with a baseball bat. He stumbles into the street only to get pasted by a semi. A Reaper then scoops him up and carries him off to his new life on another world with game like mechanics having been selected for reincarnation. His choice is to potentially change races away from human but then he will forget everything about himself starting over as an infant or he can pop onto the world with his memories mostly intact as he was when he died. Choosing not to lose himself he takes the second option. The disadvantage is that he really doesn't know anything about this new world and has been left to his own devices with a book as a guide and a pack. Scooped up shortly after arrival by a priest who helps him to get some semblance of footing under him. He also receives aid from a local shopkeeper as well who gives him a bunch of junk gear for free and a task to bring back some stones from a mine or cave. It is however a trick of sorts that sees him stuck as a servant for five years for another God than the one who seemed to be interested in him in the first place. Now with a new class as warlock and a bond mate who appears to be a succubus which is depicted on the cover of the book our main character must find his way. And with that I'll simply say well done to everybody who had a hand in bringing this story to us, the Audible listeners.

Loved the ebook and this just is even better!

Great story, premise, and rich characters content onto of pretty good narration, even slightly chopping when reading out the system statistics and the like. As characters however, absolutely loved it! Can’t wait for number 2!!

amazing first book in a series

The story was interesting and the characters were engaging. the narrators also did an incredible job with it as well.

The only complaint I have is that I wish it was longer (it feels like there could easily be another 4-5 hours in this story that were cut for time) and that the next one was out already.
