This account was a well written personal trip of two likable people that brought you along with them in their adventures and their outlook on life and life around the planet. Starting with their marriage and courtship and onto their big trip, the images were nicely described somewhat suspenseful, always entertaining in the long tradition of journal traveling. This was the first completely contemporary trip that I’ve come across that had some of the same charm of the 19th century explorers that I’m used to reading about.

Now I will confess that I know the travelers being from their hometown and having read previous books by Robert Downes, so my expectations were high going into it, but there was no disappointment, and in fact, it was even more fun than I thought it would be to hear the story through. I ended up sharing my enthusiasm with a few other friends and they seem to be enjoying it just as much now that they’ve downloaded the copy.
