Publisher's summary

Perfect for book clubs or the beach, Aggie Blum Thompson's I Don't Forgive You is a thrilling debut "not to be missed". (Wendy Walker)

An accomplished photographer and the devoted mom of an adorable little boy, Allie Ross has just moved to an upscale DC suburb, the kind of place where parenting feels like a competitive sport. Allie’s desperate to make a good first impression. Then she’s framed for murder.

It all starts at a neighborhood party when a local dad corners Allie and calls her by an old, forgotten nickname from her dark past. The next day, he is found dead.

Soon, the police are knocking at her door, grilling her about a supposed Tinder relationship with the man, and pulling up texts between them. She learns quickly that she's been hacked and someone is impersonating her online. Her reputation - socially and professionally - is at stake; even her husband starts to doubt her. As the killer closes in, Allie must reach back into a past she vowed to forget in order to learn the shocking truth of who is destroying her life.

Sigh….

:POSSIBLE SPOILERS:
If you can suspend disbelief enough, ignore the HUGE red herring and the technology related inaccuracies you may enjoy this.
For me, the protagonist was likable but her husband was a complete jerk and her son was disrespectful and bratty. His character was absolutely awful. He never asked for things he demanded. He sassed his mother and was generally a mini jerk like daddy.
Sorry but I had to get that off my chest.
Sooo…the story is your typical woman with some secret in her past she must hide at all costs although I still haven’t figured out what SHE DID that she had to be so secretive.
She moves into gossipy neighborhood and is gaslighted and framed for murder.
My experience is neighbors just don’t care that much what ppl do but maybe in some places they do.
Most infuriatingly , hubby doesn’t believe anything she says, she almost loses her son ( nonsense) and he even leaves her to “ protect the kid” from her.
I rolled my eyes so many times I’m now rating books on the number of eye rolls it gets from me. This was one earned enough to fear my eyes might get stuck like that.
I wish I could return it but AUDIBLE no longer has its “ great listening guarantee” they arbitrarily decide when to refund and I’m on a 6 month blacklist. No matter what I spend I cannot return ANY book even if it’s a mistake or technical issue. If I could this one , which I paid for with actual money, would go back.
It was not boring so that’s a big plus, however, it was nothing you will remember. There are many others with the same plot but much better written. Since every purchase is now a gamble with no way to return I would give this one a pass .

Lots of twists and turns!

When I bought this book, based on the synopsis, I thought this wouldn’t be much of a challenge to figure out. What a wonderful surprise! It was a challenge and a very welcomed one. I was so yelling at the book and some of the characters. That is a good thing because that means I was involved and engaged in all the plots. So if you are hesitating to buy this book, don’t wait another second to use that credit! I promise you that this book plot is not as simple as you are led to believe.
The characters were somewhat complex and the NARA raider was great! There were lots of twists and turns and there is not just one mystery going on here. So stop reading these reviews and go by the book already!!!☺️☺️😂😄😄

The whining kid made the whole story annoying.

Part of that is probably the writing, some of it being the narrator. Regardless, if my kid was that whining, annoying brat, I would have run away and never come back 😝

POV - meh

It's a point of view story. I'm a sucker for easy reads on my commute; and it was good for that. Th story was predictable, but not all the way to the ending- so that was interesting enough for me that I didn't hate it.

- the kid though. narrator was very whiny & the story of the kid was very immature for his supposed age group. Maybe she was instructed to narrate that character in such a fashion, but even though the story was daytime TV worthy, that characters narration made me cringe every time I heard it.

Treachery is Contagious

This is how I like revenge served, cold and calculating.
This is a riveting story about who to trust when the chips are down and the evidence is stacked against you. Honesty is not the best policy but neither is flirting with disaster.
Allie Ross, new to the suburban DC neighborhood, attends the annual neighborhood party with her prosperous lawyer husband Mark thrown by Facebook addicted new neighbors. Her husband has drifted off and joined a small cluster of men with dad bodies. and isn’t paying her any attention. She indulges in innocent flirting with green eyed man at party when he offers her some wine and engages her in small talk. When she tells him she’s a photographer, he’s fascinated and compares her to Ansel Adams, one of America’s most famous photographers of the last century.
Her marriage has evolved into staleness that happens when childrearing is the primary responsibility.
The stranger, Rob, begins to creep her out when her seems to know her from her time buried teenage years. He calls her by a high school nickname. How does he know it?
The narrator is superb. She has captured the voices and the nuances of all the characters.
Families are complicated. Allie is entwined in complicated situations with her mother and sister as well as her husband’s very snobby traditional family.
If you like plenty of twists and turns, you won’t be able to stop listening until you reach the very end.

Suspenseful storytelling at its finest

Great story with a terrific unexpected twist, and characters that drew you in and kept you captivated. I am local to the area where this story takes place, and especially enjoyed the author’s accurate representation of life here. I love books narrated by Lauren Fontang, and she did a great job creating anticipation so you wanted to continue listening as each layer of this mystery thriller is revealed.

Good story but frustrating

The story is good and there are lots of twists and turns. These types of stories do frustrate me because the main character seems to let the turmoil around her happen without properly standing up for herself until the end. All in all, great book with an interesting story. Worth a listen for sure! Can’t wait to see future works from this author!

The narrator did a great job.

Interesting

The story flowed great and I was never lost. The characters were so,so. I will say I didn't figure out the bad guy until the end! Not a very deep or thought provoking story and I won't think of the characters again.
