Danny

I may be young, but I've done a hell of a lot of growing up in the past year. I watched my big brother deal with the challenges of loving someone, went through some medical stuff myself, and changed my career plans and my city. Gaynor Beach is smaller than where I was, but it has two attractions—my brother's big new house, where he's letting me live for now, and Rob Dunn. When I met Rob, just, damn. Like my brother, I wanted to help that sweet, stubborn guy and his cute kids get back on their feet. Maybe the rescue husky wasn't the right gesture, despite Rob’s connection to him, but a dog is love on four paws, and I plan to be there to help all the way.

Rob

I left my abusive husband with my two kids and the clothes on our backs. I'm grateful every day for the support the Gaynor Beach folks have given us…okay, I'm not sure I'm precisely grateful for the rambunctious young husky Danny Reynolds gave us, but Trouble makes my kids smile, and that's a big win in my eyes.

I'm determined to get back on my feet. I hate relying on other people to help us, but somehow it doesn't bother me as much when it comes from Danny. It's nice to have a real friend after all those isolated years, but do I want to keep him in the friend zone?

This slow-burn small-town gay romance novel is about fresh starts, accepting help, two sweet kids, and an adorable husky named Trouble.

So much heartbreak and hurt comfort wrapped up in a wonder found family romance. Rob really was strong for making the break and getting away from abusive husband to build a better life for his kids. I adored Danny's gesture of giving Rob and his family a dog! It was the right move. He brought out all the chaos and with that love and a full family. Rob and Danny were both such giving men and even though this is a standalone romance I am now drawn back to the first romance in the series for James and Colin's story since they are pretty big part here! Michael Ferraiuolo definitely notched up all the family feels with his narration. Every character was full of distinct personality.

This was a heartwarming story of Rob who is trying to get away from his abusive husband. Danny is trying to make his way through college as he wants to be pre-med. But life takes a turn that has the two crossing paths and building a friendship. Although I thought they were quite mature for their young age, I thought the story played at well. Michael Ferraiuolo did a wonderful job telling these guys' story.

I really loved this story about being brave and rebuilding your life from scratch. Rob is escaping his abusive husband after 6 years of living a half-life. The only saving grace from his time served are his 2 children. After a harrowing night in the ER, a social worker throws Rob a lifeline in the form of a place to stay in Gaynor beach far away from his ex. While moving in Rob meets Danny. Danny is struggling with his pre-med studies and finds himself immediately attracted to Rob. The two men are opposites in a lot of ways, but they still fit together very well. I appreciate that the character of Rob was not simply reduced to a "damsel in distress' kind of trope. He does struggle since his husband pretty much kept him isolated from everything, but he never gives up. I liked that Danny wants to help but tries really hard not to overstep or take agency away from Rob. The kid and dog characters are absolutely adorable and were fun to read. Michael Ferraiuolo's narration adds a lot to the characters and made it more immersive.

I really enjoyed this one. It had depth for the characters without being too much. I know the battered spouse storyline typically has more pain but I thought this did a good job of being respectful of that while also being a light read. I loved how these two fell for each other and I wish real life was like thisnfor everyone escaping abusive homes. I thought this was a super sweet story. I love this small town. The narration was perfect as well. I really love how peaceful his voice is.

I really liked this one. We meet Rob right off the bat in the hospital after being struck by his abusive husband. Apparently, he grabbed their daughter and that was the last straw and when Rob stepped in, he ended up with a broken nose. He is placed in a home that belongs to James, one of the Reynolds brothers. Rob is filled with so much guilt over everything and doesn't want a handout, though he does realize that he needs the help. Danny meets Rob while helping getting James' house setup to take Rob & the kids in. I really need to go back & get the other books in the series & read them as James & Colin's book is the first one. James is moving in with Colin & doesn't need his home any longer, and since he owns it, he has decided to give it up to those in need. I love how selfless everyone is. What I found a little overbearing is how Danny and his family kind of run roughshod over Rob. Instead of asking and letting him come to terms with something, they force it on him. It's not in a bad way, they all mean well, it's just much for someone coming out of a bad situation with a child that is clearly traumatized. I liked how the ex is hanging over the story to give it the tension the story needed.

This is a great addition to the series and would also stab on its own merits. This started with a terrible situation and then you see growth as the book goes on.

Great listen and a great addition to the series.

What better way to start off “Pride” month with a visit to Gaynor Beach, one of my favorite places to spend time in, and with Gabbi Grey’s fabulous characters and storylines. “Husky Love” is a story of starting over, finding family and falling in love. Leaving with only the clothes on their backs, Rob Dun took his two kids and left an abusive husband, fearing they would be his next target. Thanks to the kindness of others, they found them a safe location, Gaynor Beach, where James and Colin had a home for them to stay in. It wasn’t easy for Rob to take handouts, but he promised to pay it forward when he could. James’ brother Danny, who wants to become a doctor, is struggling with some classes and keeping his grades up, making him re-evaluate his career choice. When he hears about Colin’s need for a transplant, he could not sit by and do nothing, despite knowing they would object if he took time off from school. When he was back in Gaynor Beach, he and Rob hit is off, really getting one another, and it was the start of a great friendship. It was great watching these two getting to know each other and then see their relationship morph into something so much more. I loved all the layers of the story and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, heartwarming moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, but worth the wait romance. Shout out to this found family and their lovely pets, including Trouble, and Widget, too! As always, the writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. Gabbi Grey, thank you for another compelling story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 With Michael Ferraiuolo at the mic, you know it will be a fabulous performance and a gem of a listen. He did an amazing job voicing these characters and delivering a perfect portrayal of each. I loved his take on the two leads, grasping every aspect of their personalities, including Rob’s insecurities, to his protective and caring side, and his Danny was just as fabulous and caring as well. He was great performing the roles of the secondary/side characters too, children included. His pacing and tone are just right for the story and he captures all the characters’ emotions and has you feeling them all. Michael Ferraiuolo is an entertaining storyteller and his captivating performance keeps you riveted to the story.

This was such a sweet and romantic story, about second chances at love and rebuilding one’s life after it’s been shred to pieces.
I just wanted to hug Rob and his adorable kids and wrap them in bubble wrap to keep them safe; which is exactly how Danny feels, too, and what he does so perfectly!
Rob has been isolated by his awful ex-husband and is not used to having friend and family (since his own threw him out when he was still a teenager), but Gaynor Beach, Danny’s family and some cute pets will teach him how to accept love and help.
Loved Michael Ferraiuolo’s performance, he never disappoints!

I'll never understand how some people can be so cruel... but I guess in a way that will bring kindness into the abusers life.

Rob has found himself with two children a four year old girl, Hallie, and under a year old boy, Thomas, in the hospital because he husband beat him. He knows he needs to run or the next attack will be on his kids. Luckily he gets help from several sources. He is swept from Los Angels to Gaynor Beach. He is given a home with everything he will need for himself and his two kids. He does share his past and how he was kicked out of his parents home, spent time on the streets and married at a young age to a very wealthy man. Now he is alone with the kids but has the strength to go on. The people that helped him is part of a large network of family members. They are very good at what they do so it appears Rob is really helping them out by filling up a house or moving to second larger home so they can help another single person in the smaller home.

Danny is part of the large family that helps people in need. After helping Rob and his two kids he stays in contact with him. He is having his own crises. He is struggling in medical school and is at the point where needs to decide if he should continue or what. In the meantime he finds out he can give part of his liver to his brother's partner through a mutli donation drive. His recovery is not as smooth as he lets on and in there nightly conversations Rob and Danny share a lot. So much so that when Danny moves into his brother's basement he is much closer to Rob and the kids. He ends up taking care of the kids while Danny works. When they come across a Siberian in need of a home and Hallie makes an immediate bond they have no choice to make it work. If only they could agree on a name. It had one name, Gracie but Hallie wants to call it Drizella, however so far being called Trouble is winning.

Can Rob get the divorce he needs to protect not only himself but the kids? Will his soon to be ex husband end up in jail? Can he get anything in the divorce? Will Danny decide on his studies? Will the kids accept Danny and his extended family as theirs? Will the family accept Rob? And welcome him in the family way? Will Trouble get a playmate?

Very very very sweet story, I have not figured out just who rescued who??? But does it even matter? First Rob is "rescued" but the evil Gerald, then the two kids are "rescued" by Rob, then the three are rescued. But it just continues over and over. Trouble is rescued, Danny is rescued by Rob and his kids. There are more but do not want to give anything else away...

Honestly the cover drew me in first, I love huskies and their dramatic antics. Then the blurb peaked my interest and 300 or so pages later I’m am pleased to have read this book. It was a cute and heart warming story. Danny and Rob were adorable to watch getting together and becoming a family with Rob’s kids and an energetic puppy. Rob escaping a horrible situation with his kids and finding peace and solace in Gaynor Beach. Danny reeling from the overwhelming stress that is being premed in college and struggling with thoughts of the future. It was a slow burn between them given Rob’s past and Danny not wanting to overwhelm him. Do I wish there was more angst? Yes, but that’s just a personal preference cause I love my books a little angsty and a lot of things were very smooth sailing and could have been angsty. Again, it’s just my preference and rounded up to 4 ⭐️s with one other minor caveat but it was just wording that was a bit strange to me. Overall it was a cute and fun read. The narration was also fun to listen to, it brought more life into the story and it was entertaining to read this story again.

Cute 🥰
