It is cute but superficial from NLP point-of-view

I love that it is an easy-reading (easy-listening) book and It covered the content with a personal story. But from NLP point of view it is very superficial, just a light touch into the field

Great format

Gradually developed methods and story which was better than just telling you
Clearer understanding because of the format

More of a narrative than a users guide imo...

More of a narrative than a users guide imo nonetheless the book delivered on several NLP tactics for change both immediate & longer term. I would recommend this to an open minded friend.

Amazingly helpful book

The information was very useful and could listen to this book over and over again. I wished they had some chapters at the end which reminded you of the techniques though

Could be better

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No . This is obviously supposed to be an important topic but infusing the story with some kind of banal love interest and descriptions of what people are wearing is just tedious and irritating. I also consider referring to someone as a gorilla is totally unacceptable and unprofessional . Some of the examples given were unorthodox too and slightly dubious.

What will your next listen be?

Mindful meditation

Did Owen Fitzpatrick do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Vaguely

Could you see How to Take Charge of Your Life: The User's Guide to NLP being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

Definitely not

Any additional comments?

It would have been better if they just stuck to the theory and not bothered with the badly written banal story.

Better than expected

The story telling helped me to understand better instead of instructional book of do and donts.

Insubstantial.

Strange format, bland story, little substance.
Has a bit of a Richard Bandler cult feel to it.

Some interesting things - odd narration and not exactly a handbook

I found it difficult to get into this audio book. It’s a story of someone attending a seminar, rather than a handbook as it’s titled.

The narrator is one of the authors and I just couldn’t deal with the silly voices when he attempted to put on accents really badly. I can guess what a German or American sounds like without the poor attempt at the accent which really put me off.

However, there are a few interesting concepts that could have been read in less than 30 minutes.

I believe they could do a lot better with a more in depth introduction to NLP rather than a story about the guy who fancied a girl at a 3 days NLP seminar.

Neither a course or a story

This book gives nlp techniques whilst telling Joe's story about when he attended the course.
I don't think this works as it doesn't give you enough information to really learn the techniques. Instead you get roped into a lame story about him meeting a girl at the course.
I'm all for stories that help you learn but this was a bit disappointing

Too short, too little information, too much fluff

This is an interesting book and easy to listen too, however it's really only got about 30 minutes of information. As an audiobook it's too short. Due to it's storytelling style, this short book has so little real content that it should be a free sample. It's clearly just an up sell tool.

5 % substance 95% story.

Waist of time.In ten minutes they could have told you what you needed to know. The hole book is just waisting time telling you a story like you are a five year old .

brilliant

I enjoyed the fact that it was in parable form, that made it much easier to understand the beginning process of feelings in its natural state, and then delivered the exact process needed to obtain the better outcome. An excellent audiobook that actually does what it is meant to do, with no smoke and mirrors.

A must listen

it's a practical guide for taking charge of life. Nicely explained as a story. However, more in depth of information and how to apply these methods in everyday life would have been great.
