A solid guide

A lot of what is covered in this book isn’t new, but the book brings it all together in any easy to digest format. The “behind the scenes” bits are extra interesting for me as I haven’t had the experience of interviewing other people so have no idea what actually goes on.

This book explains why you get asked the questions

I’ve tried a few books written about interview questions. They are great if that exact question comes up, but otherwise aren’t too helpful. This book explains why the interview asks the questions they do, so you understand how to form answers, rather than giving you a list of 100 cookie cutter answers. Far more helpful.

Highly Recommended. I Got Hired

Simple, easy and informative.

I ended up siting down and listening to this book in one evening. I realised that I was doing pretty much everything wrong, from by 8 page resume to my interview technique. I’ve got back through and listened to each section as I’ve applied for a job……. And I got hired.

After listening to this book I got a job

I failed about ten interviews. I read the book and I succeed in the 11th interview. No more comments. Just do it

A must for job seekers

This is a must for job seekers, and frankly I'm one of them, at a time when taking on two different part-time jobs is becoming increasingly the norm.
The narration is great - friendly and understanding. By first explaining his background and experience as a specialist in recruiting, the author provides a reassuring touch on a number of important matters when it comes to looking for a new job. He helps by first identifying our needs and ambitions, and uses this to help us discover how to search for jobs that match, and how to apply for that job. Constructive and helpful, this book has made me think anew about how I apply for jobs, and is written by someone really knows the job market. Thank you.

Top stuff for people who hate interviews.

This book has been incredibly helpful for me. The format takes you through the process of getting a job from start to finish. Personally, I was really stuck at the interview stage, so I skim read some of the early chapters. The interview stuff was great. Understanding how to prepare for interviews is something I’d never been taught at school or college, but it seems kinda obvious once you learn it. Understanding the different types of interview questions and how to answer them makes me a lot more relaxed about going to an interview.

Very good to excellent

This is a very good to excellent book, and a good audio version. In my next interview, I will try to use a number of the recommendations. My previous responses in other interviews have been long-winded compared to what he recommends. I think that reading this book in combination with one or more other books on this topic may be the best solution so you get a wider perspective on things.

Sensible and Helpful

Michael A. Harrison provides a master class for those thinking about getting hired for a new post. Lots of tips and advise, and quite unique in actually raising the question if you should consider getting hired for a new job rather than staying where you are. Thoughtful and well put together.
