Publisher's Summary

Finn

When the vampire stalking me sent me a letter, I was prepared for my new life with the man I love to get thrown into chaos. But as the days stretch on and nothing happens, I become determined not to allow that monster to rule my life and decide that Marcus and I will move on.

We can’t always allow the past to haunt us. If that includes pestering Marcus and harassing my fellow detectives, they’d better learn to love it because I’m not going anywhere, even if they like to remind me I’m the only human working in a department filled with vampires.

But Marcus loves me for who I am, even if he’s not crazy about the cute pet names I call him like McBitey. Being with him is more than I could have dreamed, and even with the trials thrown in our way, he never fails to make me smile.

Marcus

When Finn joined the VRC, I never expected how everything would change. Now that he’s the brightest part of my days, I’m unsure of how I existed without him. Before Finn and I can settle into our new life together, we’re called in as lead detectives when a body is found in the river, and the case soon hits closer to home than we anticipated.

I want to be by Finn’s side to keep him safe, but at the same time, Finn’s fighting for the freedom he’s always wanted after being forced to live a life of fear. What I do know is that my future is with Finn, no matter what happens.

How to Elude a Vampire is the second in the VRC series and contains a display of manly prowess that doesn't go as desired, reluctant bonding with a new pet, interfering with a snarky Russian's love life, misuse of office supplies, a vampire with a killer fashion sense but very little game, a total lack of ancient kung fu powers, a feisty human who almost always gets his way, and the possessive vampire who adores him.

amazing as always

It's review time 🎧
Warning ⚠️ : not a standalone, Vampire romance, mm romance.

“Can your tiny little legs keep up?” Karsyn asks.
Marcus waves at him like he’s going to defend me.
“Shh, Karsyn. He doesn’t like it when you make fun of his speed. You’re like a cheetah, baby,” Marcus encourages.

Narrator score🎧 ; Michael is amazing as always, i just adore his talent so very much.

“Ah, makes sense, you’re so manly your eyes probably have no idea what tears are. Are they rejecting your body? Are they confused? Hurry up, Grandpa. Ooh, you know the whole Daddy thing? I don’t need a Daddy, I got a Grandpa.”

Level of steam🔥: its not about s** at all, this book is all about banter and a full on story. And even when they are getting to it, its full of fun and bante, and I love it.

“There is something wrong with this family and I love it!” Marcus says as he smacks his leg.

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: yes its a comedy. But somehow this author can bring you a serious story in to the comedy and she did it amazingly.

"I do have a weakness for popcorn. Its better to coated blood instead butter."

The book itself📖: Alice out done her self with this book. She brought us a great fantasy, with a wonderful detective story. I love that she keeps a united front with this story, they are a solid couple through it all. And I adore it. It was a wonderful book, I can't wait to the 3rd and 4th books on audible. 😍😍😍 because Michael in a Russian accent is the absolute best thing in the world.

Really sappy

I loved the first book even though it occasionally got sappy. This book overdosed on the sappy and cutesy. About midway through I would have been ok if Finn met a brutal, and I mean BRUTAL, end. I wish the author had went into more detail about the creation of vampires. I also hate they introduced a character just to kill him off....there is no emotional investment in his death. They used the word evil to the point of annoyance and everytime I heard it I was pulled out of the story with thoughts of Dr Evil and his pinky to his lips. Last, it would be nice to know why all the vampires love Finn (an annoying , manipulative jerk) and why he made the Doll Maker feel and Marcus (least original vamp name ever) is drawn to his blood. Michael Ferraiuolo is very talented and made the material tolerable.

Hilarious but not stupid funny. Laughed out loud.

I just can't explain how much I like this series and the perfect humor and the characters. Finn and Marcus are like oil and vinegar and taste so good together. Finn taunts Marcus and Marcus loves Finn for it. Loves him and understands him for who he is.
And did I mention it was hilarious. Straight up, off the cuff hilarious.
And no one narrates it better than Michael F. Perfect partnership.
Ms. Winters, please, please, please give us another dose of Finn and Marcus.

So excited for the second book!

So excited, been waiting on this book to come out. Been waiting to find out who caused the “accident”. Also really want more Carson and De-gray. Wish a spine off of them would happen.

Great book

I really enjoyed this book, as I do with all of Alice Winters’ books. Good balance of humour and depth, which is a tricky thing to achieve successfully - but she does it amazingly. I look forward to more in this series.

What a disappointment!

Alice, what happened? Somehow you must have lost interest in the characters you wrote about. The first book was so good. In this second book the story line almost stopped and the characters merged. Marcus seemed to repeating the same thing over and over again making him sound weak. So much more could have been made of the how the bad guy was found out and how ruthless he could be, but it was limp and over way to soon.

A good point is that Michael Ferraiuolo narration was excellent.

Absolutely Amazing

I absolutely ADORED How to Elude a Vampire and Michael Ferraiuolo's narration is sublime. His voice for "the bad guy" (I can't say a name because of spoilers!) was genuinely creepy!

Fantastic VRC Sequel

Finn and Marcus return to solve once and for all the mystery of who has been stalking Finn for years. It's a family affair as the couple are supported by Finn's father and sister, as well as their work family or Karsyn, Brookes, etc. We also get to meet Marcus's brother, Claude who is one of those characters you love to hate at times, but I think will ultimately win us over in the next book in the series.

I thought the pacing was decent, with a good balance between the action sequences, the romance and the humour. It's lovely to see Marcus and Finn as an established couple in this book. They've lost none of their banter, but their bond and protective streaks have certainly grown. I'm delighted too, that Karsyn is as sarcastic as ever - he really makes me laugh and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ms Winters had in store for him.

Michael Ferraiuolo has done another wonderful job of bringing these characters and the story to life...excellent narration.

Loved It!

Yet another great audiobook!

Loved It! Just the right amount of snark, sass, moodiness, sexy times and just outrageous laughter.

This is certainly the type of book I love to hear, and Mr MF does an outstanding performance 🎭

I so hope the rest of the books will be released in audiobook format as I can’t wait for the next instalment!!

Definitely worth 5🌟’s 😁😁😊

A wonderful story and narration!

Michael Ferraiuolo has once again done a marvelous job of bring Alice Winter's zany cast of characters to life. This book is a little more serious than the first in the series (How to Vex a Vampire) in that it is dealing with Finn's long term, psychopathic, sadistic, vampire stalker.

That doesn't mean the humour doesn't shine through, and the narrator Michael, is able to smoothly flow from emotionally intense scenes to flippant snarky moments, showing his wide scope and epic comedic timing.

Michael Ferraiuolo has the ability to give each character an extremely unique voice, so you know instantly who is speaking, even if it isn't identified within the story. He is definitely in my list of Top 5 narrators!

Alice Winters has done a spectacular job with this book. Finn's stalker was introduced in How to Vex a Vampire, and he made a few appearances then, which only highlighted his obession with Finn and indicated that he is an extremely powerful, and mad, vampire.

Things ramp up in How to Elude a Vampire, and the hunt is on for this mysterious stalker who, right up until the end, I had NO CLUE who it was!!! There were a couple of red herrings, a couple of times I though 'no, not him' but luckily I was wrong, and the ultimate big bad was a surprise, where in hindsight you go 'oh I can see it now' but in the moment, I never saw it coming!

How to Elude a Vampire is also emotionally intense and romantic. Marcus may have take a little while to admit he'd fallen for Finn's charms (or was it just his persistence), but he's all in now and the fact that Finn is threatened, and that he doesn't know if he is strong enough to protect him, is driving him crazy. He is fighting his instincts to put him in the secret him away and allow him to continue to live, something Finn is desperately fighting to do.

Finn's family, Marcus and his brother, and his fellow VRC vampires rally to protect Finn and find his stalker, even Alexis who claims to 'hate' Finn, goes out of his way to protect him. He is definitely a big Russian faker!!

I'd highly recommend both the book and the narration, separately or together, they are amazing!

love this narrator

How to Elude a Vampire is the continuation of the story from the first book in this series (definitely read in order). There is a lot of suspense, action and murder but the author balances that out really well by having humorous characters that have a lot of fun banter and snark between them.

Finn is my fav character - I love how hilarious he is, he adds so much humour to so many scenes. He's such a stirrer with Marcus as well, especially once he realises something makes Marcus uncomfortable, like Marcus trying to interact with Hela :) Finn is everything Marcus never knew he needed in his life!

The continuation of the stalker storyline was really well done. I didn't guess who it was until the big reveal. I'll be interested to see where the storyline goes from here in the next book in the series.

Michael Ferraiuolo is a wonderful narrator, I really enjoy listening to his performances.
