Publisher's summary

USA Today best-selling author K. A. Linde introduces the Royal Houses series with House of Dragons: the story of Kerrigan Argon, a half-Fae, half-human as she seeks her place in an unforgiving world filled with magic, mayhem, and romance.

Ten years ago, half-Fae, half human Kerrigan Argon was discreetly dropped off onto the steps of Draco Mountain with nothing but a note. Her life changes completely as she's swept into the care of the House of Dragons-an elite training program for gifted Fae.

On the year of her 17th name day, each student will be chosen by one of the 12 tribes of Alandria to enter society.

Everyone is chosen, except Kerrigan.

So, she strikes a bargain with the Dragon Society: Convince a tribe to select her or give up her birthright forever.

With the unlikeliest of allies - Fordham Ollivier, the cursed Fae prince, who escaped his dark throne - she has to chart her own destiny to reshape the world.

Fun listen

Good story all around. It had a great balance of adventure, mystery, and obstacles for the lead characters to solve.

Stellar!

Finally, a story I can sink my teeth into. The performance was excellent, unique & well written story, and a nice slow burn! Best of all, no h*rneymones! Ya know, where the MMC is perfect & knows it and the FMC is completely placid with everything HE puts her through, but it's okay bc he's hot. I am so sick of those tropes.

Excellent story and great performance!

The storyline is kind of a classic morality play with teenage angst, racism, bigotry, class structures, and forbidden love as central elements. But added to this classic mixture is some realistic past and current trauma, as well as a civilization in turmoil.

The author and the narrator both give true realism and depth to the characters. This honestly feels like these people would actually act and feel. I look forward to more books in the series.

Really solid story

It’s good YA, a little angsty at times, but it comes by it honestly. I didn’t realize it was YA when I started listening, so I’m not sure if I will continue with the series, but for what it is, it does its job well.

Scales! I love this world🖤💕

House of Dragons is my first Fae book and I am loving this world that Kyla has created. It’s full of magic, mystery a bit of intrigue and a ton of loyalty.

I love the family that Kerrigan has made for herself💕 I can’t wait to see what happens in House of Shadows👀🖤

Could have been great

I enjoyed listening to this book. However, the author included sections normalizing and promoting the lgtbq mental disorder. Also, the author promotes spiritual confusion by repeating the phrase, “Oh gods!”

The story is about a young woman who is half fae and suffers racial rejection due to it. She fights for money and has special amazing abilities that many don’t understand.

At some point, an assassin is assigned to kill her, so she spends the rest of the book fighting for her life including hunting down those who are trying to kill her.
