Just Ok

I love Ohio history but felt there were some facts in this book that weren’t correct. And the narrator didn’t pronounce the names of the cities correctly. Kind of hard to listen to.

Narrator mispronounced names.

The narrator mispronounced the names of people, counties, and cities. When the book is about the history of something, it should be made sure the narrator can pronounce important names correctly. Also, the northwest part of the state and its history were not included at all for the most part.

Great Introduction to Ohio History

I enjoyed this quick overview of Ohio history. It does a good job of providing a broad overview of Ohio history, and is the perfect place to start if you’re just beginning to learn about this interesting state.

Good shorthand Ohio history, one significant problem

As a flyover of Ohio history, this is pretty good. However the book seems to blame Ted Strickland for the global Great Recession of 2008-2009, which is ridiculous. It was a global recession caused by mortgage speculation on Wall Street. The book doesn’t mention that. It just says it was a Great Recession, implying it was only in Ohio and somehow Strickland’s fault. A really bad take on recent history in an otherwise good, if limited, book.
