The history of Ohio is so much more than farms and factories.

Do you think there isn’t much to know about the US state of Ohio, or do you think you already know everything there is to know? Prepare to be amazed.

Ohio is quite possibly the most important state in the United States, and has a history as varied and as interesting as any ancient kingdom. The remains of ancient civilizations, the home of some of the richest human beings to ever live, grisly wars for domination, and epic struggles for freedom—Ohio’s history has it all.

From the first humans in Ohio to the great systems of canals and railroads to the development of space travel, Ohioans have been at the center of progress for many years.

Did you know that Ohio and Michigan were once at war? Did you know that the 18th, 19th, and 20th US presidents were all from Ohio? Did you know that ancient Ohioans built massive effigy mounds, and that we’re only now discovering what they mean?

Ohio has an amazing story to tell the world; you just have to listen. Delve into this audiobook on the history of Ohio and learn more about:

  • The home to many well-known companies and brands like Goodyear, Tide, Dawn, and Standard Oil.
  • The birthplace of eight US presidents.
  • Great Native American leaders like Tecumseh, Blue Jacket, and Little Turtle.
  • American generals like “Mad” Anthony Wayne, William Henry Harrison, and Ulysses S. Grant.
  • John D. Rockefeller’s rise to power.

I love Ohio history but felt there were some facts in this book that weren’t correct. And the narrator didn’t pronounce the names of the cities correctly. Kind of hard to listen to.

Just Ok

Narrator should learn how to pronounce the names of Ohio cities. Akron, Medina, and Meigs are all pronounced incorrectly.

Good book

Very good information on the history or Ohio and how it became a state. Touches on politics, settlements, war and life of the people through out its history.

Good listen~

The narrator mispronounced the names of people, counties, and cities. When the book is about the history of something, it should be made sure the narrator can pronounce important names correctly. Also, the northwest part of the state and its history were not included at all for the most part.

Narrator mispronounced names.

Nice overview of most major events. Could have invluded more on the oil, coal, chemical industries along Ohio Cuyahoga, Ashtabula abd Maumee Rivers. Louis Bromfeld once characterized Ohio as the world’s 17th country.

Mispronounced proper names. Akron is not Ekron. Meigs is not Miges. “Megs.”
