Fascinating History

Although many horrible times for Native Americans and slaves Florida has an interesting history. It is a unique state. Some love it, some hate it. It will interesting to see where it goes in the future.

short, but full of info

even though I've read a lot of American history, I was still surprised by a few things including how much of a role in which Florida played during the American revolution

great read n great narrator

Good amount of interesting info in a condensed time.

Traveling thru Florida we wanted a high level history of the area, not 20 hours deep but not Wikipedia short either. This was a great middle ground. Lots of interesting places and people and stories.

Wonderful information and well narrated. I was raised in Ybor City in Tampa Florida. The Cuban sandwich was originated there and cigars factories. This book starts with the 1800.

A very informative and synoptically written, brief outline of Florida's overall historical beginning and present status.

Worst Audiobook I've ever listened to

I am a transplanted (from Ohio) Florida resident who wanted to learn a bit more about the roots of the state where I now reside. This was hardly a "captivating guide" for doing that. A mish-mash of half-baked explanations for certain historical milestones in the state's history, some relevant, others not so much. Plus, there are factual errors. An example: Henry Flagler's FEC Overseas Railway was severely damaged by the Labor Day hurricane of 1935. It was never rebuilt, but rather the cash-strapped railroad sold the right-of-way and bridges to the state which used it as the roadbed for the Overseas Highway, US Route 1. However this audiobook states the railroad was rebuilt by the CCC - completely false. Whoever did the research for this story did their job poorly.
