Publisher's summary

When travel nurse Lilliana Tucker is coerced by a mysterious stranger into “interviewing” to become Norio Nakamura’s next mistress, she’s pretty sure there’s no way she’ll get the job. Lilli is awkward, unrefined, and not at all cut out to be a spy - or the lover of a smoking hot Japanese billionaire. But then - WTH! - she does get the job.

Soon her arrangement with Norio goes from a role she must play, to a passionate, barely contained affair. Lilli knows there’s no way her clandestine relationship with Norio will end in unicorns and rainbows. But there are two things she doesn’t see coming:

  1. Falling for the man she’s been hired to betray, and
  2. What he'll do when he discovers her true identity

East and west passionately collide in this steamy stand-alone AMBW romance. This novel is full of J-Drama with twists and turns that will keep you swiping. Find out what happens when this sweet nurse crosses the wrong billionaire!

😍❤❤❤❤❤❤😍

First the performance: The two voice actors did a splendid job on moving from English to Japanese. Where I felt the female voice actor could have done a better job is on her Spanish because it still sounded Japanese.

Second the story: I loved the story. I could not stop listening because I was just captured by the imagery of what Theodore was presenting. I felt like I was in Japan in the mountains in this cabin as she was feeling sick, and No was taking care of her.

Overall: Get this book today you won't be disappointed.

Research was needed. Badly.

We typically love books by this author, but someone needed to spend time with the narrators and the author to discuss Japanese language and culture. One of our editors happens to teach it, which means we are also learning the language and culture.

The pronunciations were SO bad, they pulled us out of the story several times. In addition, some of the words used were flat-out wrong. One example: the heroine said that the word "iie" is a rude way to say the word 'No'. Um, no it's not because it does mean exactly 'No' and isn't rude at all, Then they pronounced the word 'iie' so incorrectly the heroine was supposed to be running around yelling "No, no, no!" when she was really saying, "House, house, house!", which was...just, wow.

The heroine had several faux pas, such as walking into a job interview without introducing herself formally. Big difference between formal and casual circumstances in Japan, and some of the things she did made no sense. Another example, she couldn't speak Japanese. At all. The problem with this is the Japanese government requires you to pass the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) in order to hold certain positions. A patient-facing nurse or doctor who can't communicate with her patients would NOT be allowed to happen, yet that's what we saw in this book. It made no sense.

There were SO MANY mispronunciations and things that obviously weren't researched, we almost tossed the entire book. We pushed through and finished it. The story premise was okay, but the language and culture issues were just too much.

The narration was not what expected

I'm halfway through the audible book, and I'm fighting to finish it. I like the story, but I'm disappointed in the narration. The main character is described as a black woman, yet the narrator's voice does not match that. I purchase the book because it has diverse characters. The narration should match that diversity as much as possible. Black female narrators are available.

Beautiful story

Well written and truly romantic. Although No finds his other half, Ana in a most unusual way it turns from lustful love to everlasting love for them both. Their family members add depth, drama, and even more love to the story. We find love between parents and children, or lack thereof, siblings and friends.
No will go down as one of my favorite literary men. He’s so interesting, complex and lovable. Ana deserved her happy ending and couldn’t have found a better one. Hope to find out more about what happens with their brave, oldest daughter. I think I mentioned love enough for anyone to get the picture. If romance is what you’re looking for pick up this one.

amazing

This was an amazing listen.... The connection between the characters was so great.... I do have to say it started with a slow build up and it wasn't until 2 hours in that I could not stop listening..... It had so many good twists and turns.... And it was a good solid story line. Love the dual narrators They did a great job need to check out the rest of the books in the series.

Great story!

Anna and Noru had some serious family the issues. Throw in some dysfunctional family member antics, and you get this story of love, redemption, and a second chance with family. I loved the family dynamic and could listen to this one again. Great job by the narrators.

No Way A 13 year old Acting like that in My home

There is no way any woman of color I know is allowing any child of 13 years old to act that way. I love the series, and Theodora made this one of the weakest black women I know.

Decided to read the book again today and update my review. Because I can not believe that any black woman is going to let any teenager talk to them in that manner. There was no timeouts for her, more like lifetime punishment. I don't condone violence, but her butt would be flaming red.

no home training, and I am sure the limb loss plays a role. Tough love would do better. I just wanted to reach through the screen. My mother? What did you play Sing Alma test? If I called her out of her name like that no matter what the situation.

Otherwise, I love the story. Just wanted to throw something at her niece every time she opened Her mouth to speak.
