A story within a story within another story

I am a fan of Theodora, but I think there is a such thing as too many layers, and this book was it. There was so much going on in this one at one point I checked out- a doctor, a racist amnesia patient, a secret rapper dad, a drag queen brother, and a minister momma- just TOO MANY THINGS!. Then when I checked back in, the use of the "N word" was so frequent that it started to piss me off. The end was an unrealistically "love concurs all" situation, that left me too conflicted with the reality that when someone spews racial hate for their entire life, the likelihood that it won't come back in times of anger is too great. I don't know, this one was just a lot for me to digest.

Clementine Dove is THE voice for Theodora Taylor

I was so happy to find this series "The Very Bad Fairgoods" on Audible. The stories are complex, moving, and fascinating while the narrator brings them to life. Thank you Audible! More Taylor and Dove, please!!!

Amazing Romance ❤️

Where do I start. This is my first book by this author. So I was a little worried but I’m glad I got it. This is what I like a book who keeps you going. It doesn’t take 3 hours or more get to point A to B. It’s the bomb 💣. And the narrator part is on spot on. Love the southern voice. Great job. Can’t wait until the next book 📚.

Interesting story but...

Really enjoyed most of the book; however, the reality show part took away from the story. Narrator was very good as usual. Book tackled some serious issues we still experience today. Looking forward to listening to the next book.

can't get enough!

Another exciting BWWM by Theodora Taylor, voiced by Clementine Dove. I can't get enough of this duo. These Fairgoods are raw but they love hard.

Fairgoods!

I am loving this series! It has always been my thought – from personal as well as historical experience – that southern white boys have always liked women of color – I know enough people that white men in Texas like Mexican women, but for the rest of the south a lot of white men like black women. And if my DNA profile is any indication to go by, because I am light skinned with “good“ hair and have no white women in my family tree, that’s always been the case. And because I am a “woman of a certain age,” we are talking about a lot of history! The Fairgoods show that things have not changed much over the course of the centuries. I love that they are truly themselves and that they aren’t ashamed or afraid to feel what they feel. Dixon a.k.a. John Doe, is one of the best. The two of them have a hot and beautiful romance that, happily, ends with a happily ever after. And what can I say about Clementine Dove? Hands-down one of the best narrators on Audible that I’ve ever heard. I have at least 100 audible books and there are two people – Clementine Dove and Scott Brick – who are two of my favorites. Everybody else ranges from nearly as good as they are to “oh my god what were they thinking?” I really wish that Clementine Dove did more narration for other authors’ works as well. She really gets the characters, does a fabulous job with the voices, and is very enjoyable to listen to. In fact, there are several cases where I know that she is eventually going to do the narration for the eventual audible book, but I have to read the book while waiting. It’s crazy, I know. This has been a wonderful set up, and I hope that this series continues.

weird story line

the story starts off good till its time to meet her parents. I didn't care for the rest of the story. the story doesn't flow well. love the hot scenes. love the main character John. narration was good for the two main characters but wasn't for the rest.
