Good Listen

Liked the story quite allot . The narrator was pretty good but this one begged for R.C. Bray. My only complaint really is that this book is too short.

It could have been more in depth with the monster element he was fighting ( the hatched ones).

I felt like it was just short of being worth a whole credit. When or if it comes out as a compilation it will be well worth it.

I will still purchase the next one even so...lol like I said good story.

Interesting Story

This was an interesting story, but the audio quality was a little off. I don’t know if it was the audio quality or the narrator, but it sounded like the main character off of “Everybody loves Raymond” at certain points due to hollowness of the sound. I got past it and I’m interested enough to follow the next one, but the recording quality on this one seems a little off.

A good read

As a vet I found some of the story funny and I could see myself going through the same thought process as the main character. The story is a bit short, but still I enjoyed it. I look forward to the next one.

ugh

Sophomoric dialog between characters. Also, I'm a retired Army officer so I'm accustomed to using and hearing F bombs, but their use in this story was over the top. I don't plan to listen to any of the subsequent books.

Can’t take anymore, I would rather listen to congressional minutes!

I really hoped for a new series to listen to. I will have to keep looking.
Derek Shoales, the narrator, reads very fast. It’s like he feels that speaking at staccato speed gives emphasis. I ended up slowing his down to 8x so he would be at normal conversational speed.
His female voices ALL sound the same, a poorly done imitation of Marilyn Minroe, childish & very breathy.
The premise of the story sounded so interesting, unfortunately the characters were flat, and never came to life.
The interactions between our hero & women were trite & juvenile.
Because this is the first in a series I realize that the firsts are usually a bit rough, so I usually try to stick with a story to at least half way hoping that it will even out and get better. I couldn’t make it half way before I gave up. This one is getting returned.

book is interesting especially when they talk about cryptic's. I wish they wouldn't use the F-word

Hoped for more substance

Unfortunately, the dialogue was a bit basic, and I guess I missed the foundation of the story. It was lacking substance . The F bomb was way over done but provided a lot of filler for story length. the constant snipping and snapping between the characters got old fast. Little bit of action and whole lot of irrelevant talking.
The narrator seemed like he was just reading a story and didn’t do much to make it more interesting. The female voices were a bit cringy and unpleasant and were distracting from the story.

Good but short.

This book was included in my subscription. I like the story and the characters, moves along at a good pace to be entertaining. The only problem with continuing the series is I am not willing to spend a credit on a 6 1/2 hour book. I will be watching for this series in a bundle though.
