Story
Delilah Winter is one of the hottest pop stars on the planet, so how in the world was she kidnapped right in the middle of a show at the famous Hollywood Bowl? If anyone can figure it out, it's Dr. Kendra Michaels, who works with local and federal authorities on only the most impossible cases. Blind for the first 20 years of her life until a revolutionary surgical procedure allowed her to regain her sight, Kendra uses her powers of observation - honed during her years in the dark - to detect what other investigators don't.

Story
Kendra Michaels is reluctant to help the FBI with the most recent case they've brought to her...until she hears the details: The body was found just blocks away from Kendra's condo. The man was carrying an envelope with Kendra's name on it, and inside was an SD card with what appears to be an innocuous video of a wedding reception. And just one week before the attempted delivery of this mysterious video, the groom in the video was murdered.

Story
A serial killer is on the loose in San Diego, and he has a most unusual M.O.: with each kill, he leaves behind objects with unclear meanings. Most of the recent killings are centered near Kendra Michaels' home and office, so it comes as no great surprise when the FBI shows up at her door. The investigators soon make a startling discovery: the left-behind objects are actually souvenirs of other unsolved serial murder cases in various US cities.

A music therapist who thrives on helping others, Kendra Michaels cherishes the ordinary life she has achieved after stem cell surgery restored her sight. The skills she perfected during those sightless years - the ability to pick up the most subtle audio, olfactory, and tactile cues in the world around her - coupled with her laser-sharp mind - have made her a uniquely potent observer and problem solver. Kendra’s uncanny way of connecting the dots is as baffling to law enforcement as it is legendary.

Publisher's Summary
Investigator Kendra Michaels - once blind and known for her sharp skills - puts her life on the line to catch a killer in this electrifying novel from the number one New York Times best-selling and Edgar Award-winning duo.
Dr. Kendra Michaels, blind for the first 20 years of her life before gaining her sight via a revolutionary surgical procedure, is a renowned investigator known for her razor-sharp senses - honed during her years in the dark - and keen deductive abilities.
Now, her skills are needed uncomfortably close to home. Two staff members have been murdered at a school for the blind where Kendra spent her formative years. But the murders are puzzlingly dissimilar: one victim was brutally stabbed, while the other was killed by a bullet to the head. Are the crimes related? Or is Kendra on the hunt for more than one dangerous killer?
With the killer (or killers) still on the loose, Kendra must put her life on the line to unravel a terrifying conspiracy. But Kendra soon discovers that she herself may hold the key to the deadliest secret of all.

Stupid book!
I listen to a LOT of books (30 - 40 per year). Some are spectacular, most are ok but good enough to keep me entertained and engaged fairly well on my long commute. This is only the third one I have ever returned to Audible. I have read previous books by Iris Johanson and liked them well enough and I thought the main character sounded interesting in this one. But there is a totally unrealistic undeveloped plot and no real character development, just a supposedly professional investigator who behaves like a spoiled lovestruck teenager. I made it to chapter 8 and could not stand it any more. It's dumb and I am done.

Not their best
I usually love the Johansen books but Kendra Michaels is wearing thin. She’s supposed to be so bright but the Johansens way overused her stubbornness and insistence on going off on her own where she always, always gets into trouble as a way of moving the plot forward. Instead, it distracts from the plot and makes Kendra annoying and downright stupid. That in turn makes it difficult to see why Lynch is so besotted with her. Tough to like a book when you can’t relate to the main character. Not their best.

Awful, just awful ...
As slow and boring as a 1960's soap opera … if the plot moved any slower it would be at a standstill. Add to that juvenile dialogue and, for some unknown reason, an odd and unexplained focus on a traumatized rescue dog' (?) … and ya have … a waste of time.

Still The Same..
7 books in and little to no character development. Kendra is still demanding, selfish, naive and convinced that everyone will drop what they're doing to make her needs possible. 7 books in and we still know next to nothing about Mr. International Man of Mystery Lynch. Bless him for putting up with Kendras antics for this long, I'll pray for him.

Enjoyed This Book
I always like the Kendra Michaels books. This story was very good. I do get tired of the single Johansen heroines ALWAYS struggling against the men in their lives. Eve and Joe do just fine and he is as alpha as they come. It’s annoying when they act like whiny little bitches towards the men who clearly love them. At least there is some hope that Kendra might come around.

Another winner
I like the romance of Adam and Kendra. I wish there was a little more of it. They have yet to say " I love you" which is sad. I am glad it was a slow build instead of a rush to intimacy. The story was good with some interesting twist and turns. Kendra can get a little annoying with her insistence on independence even in the face of clearly unsafe conditions. Generally, I liked it.
