I’d reccomend

I picked this up after seeing it compared to Look Closer and None of This Is True, and honestly? It mostly delivered.

The premise hooked me immediately: daughter of a serial killer, twenty years clean (so to speak), just trying to live a normal life until body parts start showing up on her doorstep. The main character's voice is what makes this book work. She's sharp, sarcastic, and deeply messed up in a way that feels real, not performative. I actually found myself laughing out loud a few times, which felt wrong given the subject matter, but that's the point.

The twists genuinely caught me off guard. There were at least two moments where I had to put the book down and just stare at the wall. And the ending? Satisfying. No cheap cliffhanger, no last-page rug pull just for shock value. It earned its resolution.

Dropping one star because the middle section dragged slightly, there's a stretch around the 60% mark where I felt like we were circling the same suspicions without moving forward. Also, a couple of side characters felt a bit undercooked compared to the lead.

But overall? If you're tired of the Verity / Silent Patient style of twist that exists purely to mess with you, this is a breath of fresh air. Highly recommend for thriller readers who like their darkness with a side of wit.

I really enjoyed this story! Didn’t see the ending until it was unfolding and suddenly it all clicked. I love a twist I don’t see coming.
