Publisher's Summary

All Kelly Winters wanted was a quiet, simple life in the small coastal town of Haven, and for a time, she got that, until dead bodies began piling up, and she discovered she was a witch. Now, it’s all magic and mayhem.

Fortunately, Kelly isn't alone, and she's on the fast track to mastering these spells.

So when a YouTube convention set to take place in Haven is ruined when one of the main speakers is mysteriously found murdered, and police have her brother pinned as the primary suspect, she has no other choice than to investigate.

But dark forces are at work, the clocks ticking, and not everyone is telling the truth. Now, Kelly must expose the killer and unravel the secrets before the darkness takes hold.

This time the battle is personal, and she won't back down.

A Social Death

Kelly’s poor brother falls victim to the curse and is accused of murdering another YouTuber. Kelly must clear this up and fast. Along the way Kelly discovers her moms old house and makes arrangements to start the process to buy it or inherit it. The reality company did not realize she had passed away. Kelly makes a rash decision to get her brother out of jail. But the Consequences may be bad for the witches. Only the future will tell. Great job on the narration.

Excellent series with fun and quirky characters

I am really enjoying this series! This is the second book in the series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. Emma Watts did an excellent job bringing the reader up to speed at the very beginning of the book. This story was just as great as the first, complete with all the murder, mystery, magic, mayhem, and of course, the lovable and quirky characters. I loved it and, in fact, finished it in one sitting! And to make it even better, it’s narrated by Natalie Naudus! Counting the first book in the series, this is the 3rd book I’ve listened to that was narrated by Naudus. I am now a huge fan! She does an amazing job narrating and keeping all the characters consistent with unique voices without sounding forced or strange. She brings the book to life. Natalie Naudus has been added to my list of favorite narrators, and I will definitely be on the lookout for more of her work.
Overall, great addition to the series! I look forward to listening to the next in the series. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

Cozy mystery

I liked the mystery in this book more then the first, however, book one was a lot more funnier then book 2.
The romance doesn't really go any where and I thought the guy she likes is a immature and she is wasting her time on him. I prefered the detective way more. I found him to be more mature but the other guy has secrets which I hope we found out what it is soon.

Would recommend to all since it is a clean book

Good, relaxing cozy mystery...

My second meeting with Kelly Winters has been even better than the first one. The second book in the series takes us back to the not so average town of Haven, where magic is an investigatory tool and witches work against an ancient curse...

This time the case Kelly gets involved in is personal; it's her brother who is the primary suspect so she has to find out really quickly who did it. The plot develops fast, there are a few possible and probable suspects besides Jamie, and the solution is logical, though maybe not so unexpected:) There is also some interesting development in the secondary plotline, that is Kelly's involvement in the world of magic; a mysterious man appears and there are some yet unexplained events taking place... I suppose we just have to wait and see what's going to happen next when it comes to Kelly's fight against the dark forces...

There are two particular things that I think make the book slightly better than the first in the series (I gave the first one a 4-star rating:)). The plot is more concise and doesn't waver so much from the murder case; all the additional information or events are strongly connected to the subplot of the curse Kelly is supposed to overcome and nicely fill in the story started in book one. I also like the fact that Kelly, while coming to terms with being a witch and trying to master her witchy skills, remains a rather rational human being, believing more in the power of facts and logic than the mystic mumbo-jumbo (though she uses her witchcraft quite willingly in her investigations:)) and as such cooperates with the police and doesn't shy away from the consequences of her actions...

The interpretation by Ms Naudus is very good; the pace is quite fast but the narration itself is clear and the characters easily distinguishable. There's also quite a bit of good acting, which nicely conveys the characters' emotions.

Generally, it's a very nicely interpreted,well-written, relaxing cozy mystery. I can honestly recommend it to every fan of the genre.

Magical Cozy Mystery

Book 2 continues Kelly's journey into coming into her powers and finding out who she is. I enjoy reading about the townspeople of Haven and all of the crazy unusual happenings there. The author has done a great job at world building in this series. The clues to the mystery were paced out perfectly so I was guessing until the end. The narrator does a fabulous job bringing the story and characters to life. Her distinct and easy to understand voices make this a great listen! I look forward to more in this series.

a fun listen.

this book is very entertaining and enjoyable. the narration was great and well done. the writing was good. I had no idea who did it until the very end. I like the possibilities of love interests for her. I can't decide who I would like her to be with. but I do love the idea of her going back to the academy. I would recommend this book to friends. I think my daughter would also love it. so she will listen to it also.

Witches and social medical make for great book

I am really enjoying this series and this book is no exception. I really like the characters and all the quirks that make up Haven. I can easily see this series being produced as a tv series. The murder is interesting and unusual but with the way social media is taking over our world very appropriate. I like the subplot and the fact you learn a little bit more about the curse with each book and can't wait to start book three.
Kelly is still coming to terms with being a witch but when her brother turns to her for help she doesn't hesitate and will stop at nothing to make sure he doesn't get arrested, even going as far as spilling the beans on her secret. While trying to set up a YouTube convention the top paid guests causes more trouble than it is worth but without her joining many of the other bloggers might pull out. Even so Kelly knows that Jamie couldn't have killed her because it happened live on her YouTube channel. The killer being masked at the time means there are plenty of suspects to question. Can Kelly get to the bottom of the mystery with just skill or will magical need to play a part? The darkness is closing in and this time Kelly's own brother is the target but with questions up in the air as to who she can trust is time running out.
I liked the narrator and hope she sticks with the series as I like her character voices.
