Publisher's summary

Unabridged

Claradon never led his House's forces into battle before. But now he must. His father, the mighty lord of Dor Eotrus, went missing, along with his men, heroes all, while investigating a mysterious fog and otherworldly howling. It's up to Claradon to find him, to bring him home, or avenge his death if he has fallen. Claradon is a brave knight—noble, skilled, and courageous; a warrior born and bred; a northman, tall and strong, but he's not prepared to face the ancient evil invading his lands. An evil with powers beyond mortal imagination. An evil that threatens to overrun Midgaard and destroy all that Claradon holds dear.

This three book bundle includes the first three volumes in the acclaimed epic fantasy series, Harbinger of Doom.

Critic reviews

"Thater is one of the most talented and exciting authors of our time. He is right up there with Tolkien, maybe even better. His unique writing technique leaves you pondering what is going to happen next and yearning for more." - Google Play reviewer

"...a masterfully crafted epic fantasy about the ages old struggle between good and evil." - Carol Marrs Phipps, author of Elf Killers

an epic tale

A good listen with, the story line is good and keeps your intrest. Gets a bit away from the viking saga and has a biblical turn for a bit but comes right back. Already downloaded the next in the saga and imagine if the next is as good as the first three I will own all of them shortly.

A Great great introduction to G.G. Thater ...

Name of the game is 'huh'

Let's start with good. Performance. It's amazing, as always when Rudnicki is reading. So why 3 stars? Because, for no reason at all, De Cuir is brought on for about 10 minutes in the end of the last book. She is OK, but not spectacular... so why does she get first mention? Riiiight...

Another good: the premise of the books. Biblical god in general as the bad guy, medieval Christianity as evil, that's fine. And the concept is quite nice, too: imagine adventures of Conan viewed through the eyes of other characters, never his.

...OK, that's all good there is. Now to the bad.

First and foremost. These are not 3 books. These are 3 parts of a very long book, with cliffhangers at the end of each. In other words, you do not get any sort of closure at the end of them. You only feel irritation at having been cheated. Story does not end, so go buy another book? Yeah, no thanks.

Second, the storytelling is uneven. The first book is the least bad of all -- medium length, proper amount of worldbuilding, etc. Second is a meaningless nothing, nothing interesting happens, etc. Lots of worldbuilding. Third is way too long, length of chapters is suddenly three times what they were in other books. Lots of plot yet nothing of substance happens.

I could go on but...
Anyway. The only reason I may consider not returning this book is I only paid $3.50 for it, not a full credit.
Bleh.

I wasn't expecting much

I got this on a whim, assuming that I might be exchanging it shortly after, however once I finished the prologue to the first book I was completely hooked. The writing is enthralling and made even better when paired with the narrator's booming voice. Glenn G. Thater is definitely an author to watch, my only complaint is that I wish there was more.

Long drawn-out storyline books for high prices

Struggled to finish the free 3-book audiobook selection. I won't continue with the many remaining
high-priced books in the series

Dislike message

This is a book that uses the bible a d God as the bad guys and seems to make the prince of lies the good guy

A Fantastically Epic Horror Fantasy Story

My new favorite series, an amazing combination of genres and mythologies, great acting by narrator.
