Publisher's Summary

An original full-length novel set in the Halo universe and based on the New York Times best-selling video game series!

Just hours following their climactic battle on the Forerunner planet Genesis, the Spartans of Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris find themselves running for their lives from the malevolent machinations of the now-renegade artificial intelligence Cortana. But even as they attempt to stay one step ahead, trouble seems to find Spartan Edward Buck no matter where he turns.

A secret mission enacted by the Office of Naval Intelligence could possibly help turn the tide, and has Buck reluctantly agreeing to reform his old team, Alpha-Nine. Because if the band is really getting back together for this one, that means everybody - including the Spartan who Buck never wants to see again, the one who committed the ultimate betrayal of trust....

Needs Nathan Fillion (Voice of Buck in Halo)

Decent story, needs better narration.

Would have been a really neat opportunity to have the actual voice of Buck narrate, making the experience more immersive and enjoyable.

Nathan Fillion is missing

I love the story but it should be narrated by Nathan Fillion Because its being told form the view point of Edward Buck. Would pay extra for that.

A MUST READ for Alpha-9 fans!!!

If you read New Blood this is a must read. While New Blood was a great story I would say this is even better, though you MUST reed New Blood to fully enjoy this book. It kept me interested all the way through and had a great ending. After listening to both Alpha-Nine books It would be awesome to have them all together along with blue team in the next game instead of osiris. This is one of the best if not THE BEST Halo novels so far!

Monotone Narration, by Scott Brick

If you enjoy monotone narration, this is the audio book for you! Be amazed as you listen to multiple characters while trying to determine which one is speaking! If you like your females to sound like slightly effeminate men, oh man, this is your cup of tea right here! Yes ladies and gentlemen, Scott Brick is back, the same narrator that brought you Monotone Arbiter, Monotone Master Chief, Monotone Cortana, Monotone Keyes (both of them) and Monotone Sgt Johnson! And this time, he's back, better than ever! Listen as Scott Brick narrates one of the most iconic voices in the UNSC, Sgt Edward Buck. You thought Nathan Fillion was charismatic? Scott Brick brings Buck to life, practically leaping from the speakers with the enthusiasm of an auto-mechanic that just finished a double shift at the local Jiffy Lube. Fillion who? Exactly!

I should note, for those of you with trouble sleeping, Scott Brick makes for a fantastic sleep aid. After only a few minutes, you'll be falling gently into dream land as Scott's monotone delivery soothes you inner ear like the white noise from raindrops on your rooftop. Even during the most action packed moments, Scott's dull and humdrum performance will be sure to keep you sound asleep like a baby!

Scott Brick is not a good narrator

I’m sorry but the inflections in his voice have one tone-uninterested. I put the speed to 1.3 and then it started to actually sound like normal speech. He reads way too slowly and it brings the excitement down.

Great story and a great story teller.

I think Scott Brick is excellent as the voice of any ODST or Spartan. Worth the listen!

A Great Story That Clarifies Lore Post-Halo 5

Read by a great reader, and given accurate details of events past, it was great to hear about the Fireteam Alpha-9 back together.

Needs a better narrater

I thought the narration could have been more engaging. Jonathan Davis would have been a better fit to narrate this audiobook in my opinion. But otherwise, the story was excellent!

Fascinating

A nice way to continue the story after halo 5.
Buck being the main character gives more insight to his role as a member of Osiris team

Fantastic

Forbeck at his best with a fantastic cast of characters and a journey that kept me engaged to the very last sentence. Scott Bricks narration is a perfect match for Forbecks intense dialogue and action. People call video game novels trash fiction, Bad Blood proves them wrong. Please get Matt writing more Halo Universe stories. He gets it. I could listen to Mr Brick narrate a cool book. Bravo!

Alright

Slightly interesting but story line is a bit average. Feels like not much is happening and there are unnecessary information which doesn't seem very Halo or Spartan
