Publisher's Summary

"I'm coming for you, and nothing living or dead can stop me."

One witch is the most feared, the most ruthless, and the most deadly of all the witches in the county. If she hunts for you, she will find you. If you have crossed her, you don't stand a chance. She is the witch assassin, and her name is Grimalkin.

Grimalkin's one alliance is with Tom Ward, the Spook's apprentice. With Tom, she plans to rid the world of the most terrifying evil, the Fiend, who once did her a great wrong.

For the first time, fans of the Last Apprentice series will hear the story from Grimalkin's side, as she is hunted herself by creatures of darkness set on revenge.

Grimalkin has never been defeated. But can she survive an enemy created for the sole purpose of destroying her?

Excellent divergence from the main storyline

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this whole series and can't wait for the next installment. This one was particularly interested because it follows Grimalkin instead of the main character Thomas Ward. It takes place right in line with the series. It picks Grimalkin up at a point right after Book 8. I love having the look into her psyche and a bit of her history. In fact, I would've loved if this book gave a lot more of her story than what was offered. I was very much left wanting to hear more about her. I want a volume 2! :)

If you are just starting, this book doesn't entirely work as a stand alone. It's best if you start at the beginning of the series.

Exiting and Fun

This is a book that many of us "followers" have been waiting for. This book takes you on the other side of the light. Grimalkin's story is an exiting adventure. You as a listener get to root for the Darker side this time. Grimalkin fights against the Dark w/ her magic and all her skills. She takes on an apprentice of her own to help her fight off the Dark that is trying to take back the head of the Fiend and reunite it w/ his body. Grimalkin finaly cant do it all on her own and needs to enlist the help of Alice. Tom sits this one out. Its only Alice that joins up w/ Grimalkin from the "clan". This time Alice has to dig deep into herself and pull out magic that not even she knew she had. This may be the turning point for Alice...
Total enjoyment from start to finish!! Only bad part is that I wish it went on more than it does.

Grimalkin

What an amazing tale. I love having a book from our favorite witch assassin. The story kept me spellbound from start to finish. Rest In Peace Christopher Evan Welsh. Your loss was definitely felt in this series.

Interesting

I love this series and love all the books. This book offered a look into the life and times of the witch assassin Grimalkin, while following up to present day. It was an interesting choice for the author to write it from the first person perspective as Grimalkin. it was a tough book to get through. Insightful.

Fun overall, but loses steam at the end

Overall another fun story, but the last few chapters felt very rushed. I wish there had been a bit more meaningful dialogue at the end instead of the narrator just glazing over the climactic confrontation.

Rushed ending

Story had a good, descriptive, pace through the majority. the end seemed rushed and was skipped through only emphasizing key story points with few descriptions. This creates a recognizable let down.

Grimalkin's Story

This book is entirely about The Witch Assassin and her travels with the Fiend's head. I was thinking it would be another book about Tom and was initially disappointed by this, but it' is important back story from a different point of view. Overall though it's not as good as the other books so far, so I dropped a star from it's ranking.
