Some of the parchment pages were the color of cream, thick and substantial, made to last many, many lifetimes. Other pages were thin and desiccated, positively yellow from age, and crackled alarmingly as Van Richten turned them over. There were no ornate illuminations, no fussy borders, only lines of plain text in hard black ink. The flowing handwriting was a bit difficult to follow at first; the writer's style of calligraphy had not been in common use for 300 years. No table of contents, but from the dates it looked to be some kind of history.

Love The Last Apprentice books but....
What made the experience of listening to Lure of the Dead the most enjoyable?
Christopher Evan Welch is great as always and really is what makes this book.
Have you listened to any of Christopher Evan Welch’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have the misfortune to download the UK version on another book in the series and what a big difference! Mr. Welch brings the characters alive.
Any additional comments?
This book in the series could have been combined into another one...almost like this was a filler book. It was another bad creator to overcome. There was only one big piece of information that we learn about. Overall if you like the series, you want to listen to this book as it will relate to the next but don't expect it to be up to par as the others.

Intriguing

Still brilliant
Where does Lure of the Dead rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is a great book. Still one of my favorite series to listen to. Way more intense than most my other selections
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lure of the Dead?
I love the suspense and mind tricks. You never know what's happening
What does Christopher Evan Welch bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I LOVE HIM. he is probably my favorite readers. Great change of voice for characters.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Can't spoil it. But the love between some characters, surpass the intense gore that slpa you in the face

Lives up to my childhood reading!
I love the voices for each of the characters, especially Grimalkin. Very good! I love the story. I read it as a child and am now re-listening to them as an adult. Wonderful story and wonderful performance!
