Story
It's the beginning of the worst knock-knock joke ever: a dead body, a pregnant vampire, and a murderous ex all show up on the same doorstep. Except this joke happens to be my life. The dead body is a "gift" from the notorious vampire serial killer. Doesn't anyone send flowers anymore? The only upside to his attention is that Nico, a one-eyed werewolf private detective, has decided to assign himself as my personal bodyguard. As if that wasn't enough, I'm also juggling a new cleaning job at a supernatural brothel and trying to hunt down a kidnapped baby.

Story
No one should live day-to-day just to exist. It only took an invite from a person I’ve never met to a place I didn’t know existed to tempt me to walk…no, run away from everything I knew. How sad is it when I’m the last one to see that my crappy life needs a do-over? Starting over in my midlife wasn’t exactly the plan. But with the discovery that I actually have an aunt I never knew existed, magic is real, humans can turn into animals, and there might even be a real freaking dragon living in Guardian Lake—I can’t help but hope there has to be a better life waiting for me.

One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Now here I am, Dr. Petra Robichaud, in the middle of an immortal war, assigned to a MASH camp with a nosy sphinx, a vegetarian werewolf, and an uptight vampire who really needs to get a life. I serve the supernatural community of San Francisco. We've been having some problems lately. Okay, I'm the one with the problems. The broken body of a female werewolf washed up on my doorstep. No one knows this as well as raven shifter Deacon Evermore, who, like everyone in his family, has a curse. While his position as Shadowvale’s peacekeeper lets him use that curse for good, he’d rather live anywhere else. He stays for his family but doubts he can last much longer.

Publisher's Summary
Sometimes, you have to play dirty.
I’m Paige Harper, and I clean up supernatural messes. But my personal life is something I can’t seem to straighten out.
I accidentally married a fae, and even though we've been divorced for years, Jax still manages to land me in hot water. Like, putting my house on the table at a high stakes poker game type of hot.
Now, he's been arrested for murder and the cops want to pin a series of vampire killings on him. I don't know if he did it or not. But I do know he needs to be at that poker game or else my house is gone.
In order to get Jax out, I turn to Nico, a one-eyed werewolf private detective, for help. Nico is a handsome, dangerous ladies man, and I have no intention of falling prey to his charms.
Although, that's easier said than done as the two of us begin crawling through the dirty underbelly of the supernatural world...
It’s a good thing I brought my broom.
Grave New World is the first book in an all new paranormal mystery series filled with laughs and romance!

Wow what a great find. First let me say I am so glad to have found this book. I loved the writers. I have never laughed so hard one minute, then gotten mad the next on behalf of the character. I seriously hope to see her get her revenge the next books. Now the narration wow just wow. I will be on the look out for more books from both the writers and the narrator loved everything way to go Ladies!

The narrator was really good. I liked how she did a whiny voice for Jax and a jerky voice for Brent. I'm a Nico fan what can I say. Now I have to wait for the others to come on audio. I've read the books they're fantastic backed up by the audio they can't be beat

Entertaining and Diverting
I desperately needed to be diverted from stress in my life and at first, I was sure about this little story.. not that I am prude but the descriptive body parts were a little unnecessary and seemed to be there for "shock" value .... But in the end, nice story enjoyed and will listen to the second one.

surprisingly delightful
Narrated by: Carrie Coello 3.5-4 stars - did a nice job of distinguishing the characters, without going over the top with the 'Jersey girl' attitude/accent.
----
A, not quite, cozy mystery. Quirky 'Jersey shore' characters, with attitude and sass, surviving in a new paranormal world order.
While this does use some rough/crass language it's not over the top and it suites the characters portrayed. The heroine has a crusty exterior to hide her soft, gooey, and slightly emotionally bruised, heart.

Cleaning or Detective
What a fun and enjoyable listen. This story was easy to listen to with great characters some of whom will give you a laugh others you’ll be second guessing their motives. I love the idea of the Venus fly trap that was very creative. And just when you thought it was all going to be wrapped up nicely you get thrown a twist. Overall I enjoyed this book and the narrator has a pleasant voice to listen to.

Meh
Intriguing premise in the preview but disappointingly executed. Some glimpses of humor and starts to interesting characters but otherwise tedious. Plot holes, lots of whining, and an and non-ending which was too confusing to even be called a cliffhanger. Decent narrator kept me from quitting early.

Not sure I want to keep this book....
■ There is a lot of blatant, in-your-face prejudice in the book and a lot of crude sexual references that I find off-putting. I'm not a prude; sex scenes don't bother me or embarrass me, but this girl ain't got no class.
■ The writers do an "okay" job of snark (there really is a skill to writing snark well), but so much of it wraps around the prejudice and crudity that it often misses the mark.
■ I'm not really sure how three people write a book together, but the writing seems pretty seamless and cohesive. The narrative voice comes from the same source.
■ Unless the boarder (Darren?) has a place in future stories, I don't see the purpose of him, other than adding a couple thousand words to the story. His place in the book doesn't offer any substance to the story line.
■ I don't find the main character particularly likable or funny; she's kind of borderline pathetic.
■ The narration is done well, character voices are discernible and seem to fit the characters.
As someone who will read a good book over and over again, I'm afraid this book wouldn't make that list. It is an okay book, easy-to-read, but it didn't grab me or make me anticipate the next installment.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Interesting New Approach
Review of Grave New World Book 1 Of Down and Dirty Supernatural Cleaning Services
Author Kate Karyus Quinn, Demitria Lunnetta, MarleyLynn.
Narrator Carrie Coello
Length 6 hours 11 mins
I was really excited when I came across this series of books, I loved the name of the series, Down and Dirty Supernatural Cleaning Services, the book cover looked exciting and its one of my favourite genres, my imagination was working over time, so it had a lot to live up to. Thank you Kate for giving me the chance to listen to and review your book which I enjoyed imensley
If you like supernatural fantasy, then I think you will enjoy this story, the book is full of supernatural's of every kind you can imagine. I won't go into details about the plot as the preface (intro) gives you all the information you need, and will most likely leave you hooked.
I really enjoyed the story, and was kept well entertained throughout, although I did have a few surprises, I was expecting the usual nice, clean pleasant story you normally get with this general type of book, but it was a little bit grittier, don't get me wrong I am not a prude and quite enjoy sex scenes etc in stories but found Paige the main character a little on the crude side, I would not of wanted a teenage daughter listening to the book and thinking it was okay to talk like Paige, but saying that, it suited Paige and was part of her personality. I must add that Carrie Coello did a great job of narrating this story, and felt that she portrayed Paige perfectly.
I believe that there are four books in the series so far, but only the first one is available on Audible at the minute, I am hoping that the others will be released soon, as I am looking forward to hearing about what happens next for Paige and the other characters in this story.
