Publisher's summary

Team: A.L.P.H.A.: Six battle-hardened alphas with one goal - to save any omega in peril

Preston Tierney, the omega son of a prominent senator, has been taken by a secret group with an ax to grind. Party boy Preston was just out looking for a good time until he was grabbed - plucked right from a party in the middle of a crowd. When he wakes up, he finds himself caged like an animal in a remote cabin far from home.

Noah Perkins is a strong alpha who leads his unit with a strong hand - and a great sense of humor. The last thing he expected when he went to free the sassy little thing in the cage was to scent his own fated mate.

Noah and his crazy crew must free Preston from captivity - from his kidnappers, and again from a source much closer to home than they would’ve imagined - while Noah tries to figure out how to tame his bristly omega and truly embrace the team’s motto: Accept, Love, Protect, Honor - Always.

This is the first in a new series but can definitely be heard as a stand-alone novel. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and some violence. No jackals were harmed in the writing of this book - unless they kinda deserved it. HEA definitely included, intended for listeners age 18 years and older only. Seriously, would you expect anything less from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown?

So disappointed

I want to preface this by saying I've read Susi Hawke before and enjoyed her - but this needed an editor. Multiple overused cliche phrases made her MCs look "dumb and dumber" The narrator was a boring monotone. I DNF at 30%

Sexy short read

It was fun enough, the alpha was hot and the omega was sassy, with the physical scenes very sexy. I did have a hard time with the performer, I felt that his acting didn't quite make it for me, both characters sounded alike, and it was a good thing that the book had multiple points of view, because Noah and Preston would have indistinguishable. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Clichéd from story to narrator

The narrator ruined the story, but he didn't have much to work with. Overuse of clichéd terms like Boomer, Boss boy, Big guy, Tweedledee and tweedledummer, and the narrator sounding like a 1950s TV-version of a NY gangster, and the use of tootsie rolls as the magic to get one to do what you want, and the misuse of the cliché "cold as a witches tit" into "Witches tittie", and the overused fart joke and how a kick to the balls would leave a guy singing soprano resulted in me me not finishing the story. I just couldn't do it. Life is too short to bear what's not required even when my hard-earned $ is spent. Additionally, the writing was amateurish, at best. He wrote, Like gust of a storm of wind" or some such eleven-year old attempt at simile. And this was another story where both men knew they found their mate immediately and acted on it, though Noah wanted to wait a bit for sex; Preston didn't. Guess which won. And the author stayed consistent by using the typical language of one person "completing" the other. Sigh. This is my first and last try of this author.

Terrible narration

This narrator is quite awful. Broken phrases, meaningless pauses, no pause or change of tone or pace where needed - must bad acting. Story predictable but OK if you like the shifter-alpha/omega-pregnant-men genre. Pretty schmaltz. My usual complaint about women writing about gay male sex - too gushy-romantic, not hard-core-visceral enough to be anything like realistic or believable.

The narration is horrible. Sounds very childish. I tried to listen but couldn't. I wish I could it the time back .

Loved the book.

Love the book and series. One of my favorite authors. Didn't make it through the first chapter. The narrator was monotone and didn't fit the characters. Gave it 2 stars because I like the book.

Enjoyable both as audio and read on Kindle!

While I have read this series twice on my own, this was the first time listening to it. Susi Hawke and Crista Crown have written a a series with a great plot line, and the book goes well, without lagging anywhere. It's about a team of Alpha shifters, who find their fated mates while on missions to stop the trafficking of Omega shifters, perpetrated by other shifters! I don't want to spoil the book for those of you who haven't yet read our listened to them, so I'm just going to say that this is one of my favorite series, written by two very talented authors. The only reason I didn't award 5 stars, had to do with the narration, not the book itself. I just feel that the narrator's voice didn't fit as well as it could have, but that is literally due to my own perception of how I feel the characters sound in my head, plus a few areas where I felt the emphasis was on the wrong place pin some sentences, and pausing in the wrong places. Please give this series a chance! You won't be disappointed! And you should definitely check out the authors' other series!

B-

This was fun to listen to. However, I wish the more "intense" moments had been more intense. I mean from the time Preston was kidnapped and rescued there wasn't much action. Neither was his rescue from the mental hospital. Overall it was decent to listen to.

Really enjoyed this

The MCs worked for me. Poor little rich boy who gets kidnappedNoah head of his team is the one who saves him. But to both their surprise fine that they are fated mates. So many twists and turns. Loved Dad humming tunes fantastic

Hoping the ebook is better

So the concept of this was good but the execution was flawed in two ways. Firstly the narrator had the oddest pauses throughout his dialogue, and if I hadn't agreed to review it I might well have given up after the first 1hr & 20 mins of listening to him. Secondly by the author/s. So I've read Susi Hawke and enjoyed her writing in the past, therefore am inclined to think it was Crista Crown's influence that made the story so cheesy and cringe worthy, though I could be wrong. It started off fine (as long as I put up with the odd style of narration) and the story was going well but suddenly it just sped up and rushed through the second half of the story without anything substantial for me to enjoy.

I have the other books in this series on my ereader and I intend to give the next one a try, to see if it was just the narration that threw me off or if it was truly the fault of the writing too.

Loved the book and Loved the Audio

Susi and Crista have created a fantastic series and this narration was awesome. The book was already a fave the audio just gave it life. I'm so looking forward to Hacked on Audio!! Cos this whole series is just amazing and I use audio when I'm cooking and cleaning, stuff like that. Especially when I'm working out. And this kept me intrested I finished my workout while following it even though I already knew where it was going!

Super sexy alpha shifters

This is a throughly engaging story of Alphas and their Omegas including Mpreg. I was drawn in from the outset when Preston is trying to party away his stress and aggravation with his overly controlling political father. Preston is kidnapped, and the super A.L.P.H.A team that are sent in to get him includes his fated mate. The lucky Alpha is Noah, the leader of the rescuers, and he's delighted to scent his fated mate, even if it turns out to be a sassy Preston that needs a firm hand. Just what Noah needs to give!
The lover don't have it easy, but with the love and support of Noah's dads and Prestons long lost mother, the ending will be a happy one.
The narration was clear, but for me, lacked decent characterisation, at times being rather monotone.
On the whole,I heartily recommend this audiobook!

Great story.

I really liked this story, it is complete, but I’m looking forward to the rest of the series. I thought the ending was a bit of a let down, without giving away spoilers I think it wasn’t harsh enough and a little too nicely wrapped up. But the story it’s self was really good. The friction between them, the fact that by staying in character was what caused misunderstandings, not some made up situation.

I truly didn’t like the narration. Most of it was monotone, with no inflictions. It got a little better towards the end. I couldn’t tell the differences between characters, or scenes or what was spoken out loud or thought. The fathers did have a different voice though. At some stages it was as though my kids were reading, the end of a line sounding like the end of a sentence, but then it continuing not noticing when it was the end of a sentence.
If the story wasn’t so captivating I would have not bothered listen to the end.

I would love to hear more of these boys.

Really good story with OK narration

I really enjoyed reading this. The story line was interesting, unique even. Party boy Preston is kidnapped and rescued by Noah and his team. Even though it's a fated mate, mpreg trope, it's a unique story. The banter between the characters is fun and the supporting cast well fleshed out. Definitely will be reading the rest of the series.😊

I don't think I've listened to Peter B. Brooke before, but I'd likely listen to him if he narrates the rest of the series (hoping for more audio :)) I'd rate the narration a 3.5/5.
He does a really good job distinguishing the characters, but his cadence was a little 'off', (to me), on the non narrative parts. I got used to it, helped along by an interesting story. There were some points where I thought the narration didn't convey the emotion of the characters - when one MC was surprised, the narration tone didn't reflect that.
Overall, not a bad way to experience the story.

Enjoyable enough

I had already read this book in ebook form and had enjoyed the story so I was looking forward to the audio version, I was slightly disappointed as although the narrator Peter B. Brooke has a lovely voice, the narration seemed choppy and not cohesive highlight me out of the book, but say in that I still enjoyed this book and look forward to the next being brought to audio

brilliant

I loved listening to this book the storyline is so well written and fell in love with Noah and Preston all over again. Peter Brooke was an excellent narrator as he brought the characters to life so can't wait for these all to come to audible
