Within the wisdom teachings of Buddhism, there are many stories that refer to its founds as the "Supreme Physiciam" - a healer of all illness - mental, physical, and spiritual. The Buddha understood suffering and its antidote. His prescription and philosophy for right living led directly to a Tibetan meditation practice that is today the medicine our hearts have been searching for.

On Good Medicine, the remarkable American-born Tibetan Buddhist nun known as Pema ChÖdrÖn shares the gift of tonglen, a simple and elegant meditation system "for the difficulties in life- those that cause the most suffering- as a way to befriend ourselves, accept the past we have rejected, and widen our circle of compassion. These traditional breathing meditations cut through obstacles "on the spot".

Skillfully distilled into a three-hour workshop, Good Medicine offers a revolutionary practice that is already nine hundred years old- and ready to awaken the hearts of America, right now, wherever and whoever you are.

This was my first audio book by the author. She is so humble, approachable and witty that it makes the Dharma very accessible. I will listen to this particular Dharma talk again and again. I will also seek out other audiobooks by Pema Chodron.

What a gem

This short teaching audio has sustain and enlightened me again and again. I listen to it frequently and it continues to be fresh and invigorating. I have all of Pema's teachings available through Audible and this is by far the best and most powerful. It is appropriate for both beginners and for those deep into "the work." And also a great introduction to Buddhist paths of healing. If you are suffering and ready to hear it, it will change your life. And thanks to Audible.com! For making life-changing teachings available at an affordable cost.

The best of Pema

Here Pema Chodron gives her personal past and how she came to be in Buddhism. She goes through here two meditations and one is very powerful. If you've meditated before and you’re looking for something new to try then the one she goes through here is something you might want to try. I will warn you up front that people I know have tried this one have found it very difficult. If you do I recommend the 'Law of One' to help you along the way. I tried it and then read the other book to help.

Great Meditation teacher giving a great talk
