Publisher's summary

"I never thought I could want anyone as much as I wanted Nash, then I met you" (Royal)

When I was 16, I was afflicted with a terrible curse...I fell in love with my straight best friend. I never thought I'd move past my feelings for Nash and find someone who could love me in return - until the day a gorgeous marine plopped himself down in my chair and asked me to ink him. I'm falling fast for Zade, but my feelings for Nash are still very real. When life starts getting complicated and Nash speaks the words I never thought I'd hear, the only thing I want is for us to find a way to make this work...together.

"What if I told you you'd never have to choose?" (Zade)

I thought I'd stay in the marines for life, that was the plan. But after a traumatic event, I couldn't make myself reenlist when my contract was up. Confused and unsure what to do next, I called up my best friend for a place to stay. What I didn't count on was my best friend's boyfriend practically throwing a sexy tattoo artist at me to keep me busy. Royal is everything I've ever wanted, and his roommate, Nash, is starting to grow on me, too.

"A few weeks ago I thought I was straight. Now I'm sandwiched between two sweaty men. Can't say I do anything half-assed." (Nash)

Of course I've noticed that my best friend, Royal, is crazy good looking. I have eyes. That doesn't mean I'm into guys. Although when I start to notice that his new boyfriend, Zade, is pretty hot, too, that makes me start to question things a little. Not to mention the dreams I keep having of the three of us together. I'm willing to try if they are.

This is NOT a love triangle, just good old-fashioned man-on-man-on-man love.

Every book in the Heathens Ink series can be read as a stand-alone, but it's way more fun to read them in order.

Very hot menage

I thought the lack of angst was both a blessing and a curse. I think Nash’s “conversion” felt natural and didn’t need a lot of fanfare, however – I think the link between Nash and Zane could have used some fleshing out to be a bit more “believable”.
While I absolutely LOVED the addition of Liam to the story, there was way too much brushed under the carpet in a way that made things look way too easy. With such weighty subjects like youth and transgender and runaways or even bisexual bias and issues of being in a thouple– I felt more time spent on any or all of these as issues would have made for a more complete story. Definitely would have added to my “heart strings” moments.
I also wasn’t as pulled into the “throuple” as a success by the end of the book. Part of me wished that this was either about Nash and Royal or Royal and Zane first…. Then a more involved book that showed them opening up the relationship to the other. It was just a bit too easy and fast to be anything but superficial and while I still enjoyed it – I didn’t “believe” it as much as I could have.
Another thing that bothered me was the total wishy washy way in which Nash’s mother addressed Liam and Nash in her kitchen. One moment she’s preaching about women’s influence and being responsible and then it’s dropped to never be an issue again.
What absolutely MADE this book for me was Royal and his inner dialog – he’s hysterical! One thing he does with regularity is thank God for things like “making beautiful men like Zane. Love Royal. Amen” Or when he sees Nash and Zane kissing “Dear God… Seriously, good job. Love, Royal. Amen.” Royal is a fabulous character and he made this book easily go from a 3 to a 4+ star book.
I was glad to see there are more books on the way and I hope Owen’s story is soon!

Highly recommended to fans of the author and this series, definitely for fans of ménage, this can be read as a standalone easily.

4.25 (rounded to 4) of 5 stars
Audio
It’s hard to juggle a ménage when it comes to narration and I think Cooper North does an admirable job keeping everyone separate. His voice is really husky and suits the overall theme of this series and I like listening to it. Though he could do more to add differentiation to all the MANY characters, I think it’s easy enough to know which person is speaking.
I like his pacing and the emotions he infuses into the narration and think this is a great way to enjoy this story!

Forced narrative!

The polyamorous storyline was forced in this entire book. Casual mentions of polyamorous here and there felt out of place and really ruined the story. As if that wasn't enough, add transgender to the mix and a straight guy who all of a sudden realizes he's bisexual out of the blue and this book was more about a circus show than an actual piece about people who love each other. I found it extremely hard to get to the end of this book.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A

3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Royal, Zade, and Nash are absolutely perfect together! I couldn't get enough. I loved reading about the Heathens Ink boys and listening to them is even better!

3 men

I absolutely loved this story. 3 men who have so much love to give get their happily ever after, with just a few bumps in the road. Definitely recommend to fans of MM & MMM.

Better then book 1

I still think these books move way too fast. But I do love these guys and their story. There's so much to muddle through in a threesome dynamic. I feel like this was just glossed over. They never discussed how things would work when one partner wasn't there. I still enjoyed the story.

Perfect Fit

This could have been the sad story of the friend realizing too late they had feelings or the new relationship failing. But somehow the timing aligns perfectly for all three men to just fit together. Nash’s family are confused but accepting. The surprise family drama makes an interesting plot twist. Love the ending. Listened to the well done audio copy.

oh how I love this one

I love the relationship that forms between these 3 men. It's kind of crazy how long it took Nash to figure himself out but once he does it's beautiful to watch. Cooper North is absolutely amazing in the narration of this book, distinguishing between all the characters. He is one of my favorite narrators. I cannot believe that they switch narrators for the rest of the books. As good as these stories are Kenneth is a horrible narrator but I will try to finish the series anyway
