Publisher's summary

"One of the best damn bounty hunters. Period." (James Brownstone)

Johnny Walker was a good bounty hunter in his day. James Brownstone good.

But everybody has a line. Johnny found his when his teenage daughter was murdered. Who was the killer? Even Johnny couldn't figure it out. Everybody's favorite dwarf retreated to his cabin in the swamp with his two hound dogs by his side and retired with his guns, his whiskey, and his memories.

Except magical monsters weren't done with him...yet.

A young female shifter has gone missing, and her parents are dead. The Feds know that Johnny is her only hope, and the clock is ticking.

Johnny can't say no this time. He's off to New York City with Light Elf Fed Lisa Breyer to get her back.

Dwarf the Bounty Hunter is back to kick ass and take names. Or maybe just kick ass. What will he do when the clues connect to the 15-year-old cold case of his daughter's murder?

Honest Review - Do Not Bother

Idea seems great, but the writing is misogynistic. Who wouldn't want to read an urban fantasy (sort of?) about a dwarf bounty hunter? I waited and waited and there just wasn't enough action for a bounty hunter. Do not recommend.

What is the swill?

Worse than bad, like I have never listened to such a mess of a book! What even is the story and as much as I like Wayne he needs more range with female voice’s because the phone sex operator is exhausting, Bad story even if its free it’s not worth listening to.

I Love This Gritty Series

I read the first kindle release and now own all eight so far. At first I really wasn't all that impressed with Wayne Mitchell's narrative. Honestly my mind had a bit different dialect (more Cajun). but by chapter two I was hooked.
I am so looking forward to book two in Audible (Don't Give A Dwarf). That just means I will be accruing the Audibles as they are released.
Martha, Michael please keep these stories coming.

Gone to the Dogs!

Enjoyed the start of this series. Plenty of humor, action , and an interesting magical.fiction story. Johnny 's dogs, and their telepathic conversations were laugh out loud; my favorite part of the book!!! Already downloaded the next book, and hope the rest of the books are as enjoyable.

Great story!

Great story! I loved the characters! Dog voices were a little annoying but that’s just me. Lol. I can’t wait to get into the next one!

Very rough. Slightly enjoyable despite that.

The whole thing is a great concept, poorly done by both lack of background details about the universe itself and the voice acting. The dogs voices were utterly annoying, and while the voices of almost everyone else's were done very well indeed, the main issue is the battle scenes. The voice actor screaming about what is happening totally and completely takes me at the very least out of the action so fast i began to skip the actions scenes after the first. I wear headphones and frankly couldn't handle it. It's a shame as i liked the idea of a modern fantasy setting with a dwarf as the protagonist, more-so with bounty hunting as the theme. I finished it and somewhat enjoyed it despite these issues but will likely not pursue the rest of the series.

Protagonist is insecure

You ever notice how middle school boys drop f-bombs like they were comma's? It's because they're overcompensating for their insecurities. The main character is trying way to hard to come off as "rough around the edges" it seems. So he comes off as weak and insecure. That became extremely annoying by the end of the first book.

This was such a fun listen!

I love Martha and Michael's books - and this one is no exception.

Johnny Walker is a retired level 6 bounty hunter dwarf. He stopped when his daughter was murdered and has been living in seclusion with his coon hounds, Rex and Luther. Until one day he gets a visit from the government asking him to come out of retirement and find a kidnapped 12 year old girl called Amanada.

Lisa, a half light elf, joins Johnny as they follow the clues in finding Amanda. They are helped along the way by Rex and Luther.

Johnny is the only one to understand the dogs and holds conversations with them. The most hilarious parts of this book are when Rex and Luther are talking - the narrator, Wayne Mitchell, really gets into character with these 2 funny dogs. I spent a lot of the book laughing at them.

This book is well worth a listen - Wayne narrated this book so well, definitely one of the best narrators I've come across.

Decent

A good book, it has been a while coming to audio and as such I think I made my mind up as to how the characters sounded. still I'm sure I'll get used to them in time. Good book, decent narrator.
