A great spin-off story

I listened to the audiobook and I think I would have enjoyed this one more if I read the book because the narrator Blake Richard. was monotoned and the listening experience was drab,

Clearly this series is a spin-off as Gio is a third of GDB, a security firm partner with DaVonte and Briggs.
When Gio went to his goddaughter's 5th birthday party, he learned that a wealthy client wanted security detail for his family on a vacation to Hawaii. Gio took the assignment and he posed as a married couple with their employee Simone. During the assignment, sparks fly between Gio and Simone, which was inconvenient due to their working relationship and Gio's past as a mob enforcer.
But the heart wants what it wants and Gio and Simone can't stay away from each other that long. They have to learn how to navigate new territory and decide if what they have is worth risking it all for.

The story was good and entertaining. It has diverse characters and yet the familal bond is tight. I will enjoy reading book 2.

Good

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This was a great story but only got a good rating because of the extra sex scenes. I skipped past them then had to go back because the dialogue in the scenes added to the story. I loved the way the world-building was done, each of the characters made the story come alive. Love how Gio slowly learned to be a good guy and was not too ashamed to say the things he needed to say. The story was complex yet simple and really made for a good listen. You know there will be other books by the title but you could also tell from the ending. Yeah, no cliffhanger but a genuine ending that leads to the next story. The narrator was perfect for the story. Love grandma and those cousins. They were hoots personified.

Good Series Start. The Brooding Gio Falls Hard!

Not too long, not too short, just enough time to tumble a giant. Gio is all seriousness, no time for games kinda man, but when a client requests a couple to undercover as a married, he and spunky Simone take the job.
It’s a HEA as you’d expect but the 🔥 ride is worth the listen.
Great narration voice for sure. I think it was too soft spoken for a man like Gio, though. And it would have been nice to have a slight Italian accent?

LOVED IT!

I loved it! The narration was great and kept me entertained. The author did a great job with the character builds and plot. This was my first book by this author but definitely not my last. Giovanni beautifully flawed.

Excellent start to a great new series! i’m always glad to read this authors work once again she’s come through with a very believable story also sexy. this is Gio and Simone’s love journey! geo is a massive fan of Italian descent he’s 6 foot5. muscles everywhere and a face that women will drop their panties for. however Giovanni has his flaws he’s moody he’s all business all the time but this all changes when he starts to notice his coworker... Simone. they are team together on an assignment to protect our family and in order to do this they have to pose as a married couple.. nothing can go wrong there can it?! Definitely five stars can’t wait to get to the next book in the series.

Interesting but dragged in places

Between a 3.5 to four for me. The rough start was a little boring. It took an hour for the story to get somewhere and normally I would've stopped reading if the first three chapters didn't impress me. I pushed through and enjoyed the story despite not being attracted to Italian men(I know, I'm in the minority). It essentially forced proximity which I normally really like, which in this case I did, but much of the story dragged so while it was well-written, aspects of it didn't capture me as a reader.
