Story
Darby Culhane is the new farmer in Whynot, North Carolina, and she’s proving to be quite the forbidden temptation for Colt. Darby isn’t looking for anything but a fresh start, and she’s got it all figured out. Get settled in? Check. Apply for the rural county grant? Check. Confrontation with the steaming-mad, smoking-hot local farmer? Well, that wasn’t on the agenda. As pretty as she is sweet, Colt can’t help but be drawn to Darby’s...peaches. No really, she’s a peach farmer.

Story
I might be one of the older players on the Arizona Vengeance, but I like to think that also makes me one of the wisest. Or at least I used to. Turns out, I’ve been a bit selfish. I’ve been married to hockey and my team for years, which hasn’t left much time for my actual wife, Ella. Now I’m juggling a separation I never wanted, the pressure of being a single dad to our teenage daughter, and the career I sacrificed it all for.

He’s my brother’s best friend, the hot single dad next door. And one accidental sext later, my massive crush on him is no longer a secret. It’s my own damn fault. I’m 30 years old, for heaven’s sake. I’m a kindergarten teacher and a (reasonably) responsible adult. I should know better than to get tipsy and draft a fake text listing all the dirty things I wish Officer Cole Mitchell would do to me. Being a highly skilled operative for a company like Jameson Force Security is exhilarating and important work...until it comes time to date. I like to keep my profession under wraps for a number of reasons. Some of what we do is top secret, most of what we do is dangerous, and more than one woman has tried to latch onto me because she was more enamored with what I do than who Cage Murdock really is. And since I’m more of a "here for the night" than a "here for forever" kind of guy, what’s the harm in a little white lie about my job?

I’m not boyfriend material. If a trail of broken hearts and a piss-poor record of failed relationships have taught me anything, it’s this. My buddies are happy to give me shit about my latest breakup from here to next Sunday. Thanks, but I’d rather have a root canal. And a vasectomy. At the same time. Relief comes in an unlikely package - the gorgeous and feisty Maren. She just so happens to be my best friend’s sister, so that’s not awkward at all.

Lucy Bowman would never have guessed that her best friend, Duffy McCready (of McCready’s Bait Shop & Funeral Home) has been in love with her since they were kids. Fear of rejection and his own romantic complications prevented Duffy from confessing his true feelings in high school, so he stood by and watched her wed Wayne Garten right after high school. Wayne had always been a cheapskate, so it comes as no surprise when he suffers a fatal accident while fixing his own truck.

I knew the risks of this job when I signed on with Jameson Force Security. Knew my time as a marine would prepare me for the danger I would face. I’m not the same Bebe Grimshaw I was years ago. The woman I was spent years behind the bars of the highest security women’s prison in the nation, my punishment for hacking nuclear codes as part of a crime syndicate I’d gotten in way too deep with. The woman I am today doesn’t regret what I did, or the fact that I got caught, but I am remorseful for the years I lost with my son, Aaron. There are a few things you should know about my brother’s roommate. Wolfie Cox is complicated, and incredibly sexy. As the premier best-man-for hire in all of Manhattan, I promise discretion, so when I need a plus one for a couple of "I dos", I turn to my gorgeous, clever, witty best friend’s sister. She’s my good friend, too, and I lust after her completely. I mean, I trust her completely. After all, just look how she’s kept her lips sealed about the hot, multi-O night we spent together. Yes, just look at those sexy lips. In any case, we only fell off the wagon once, and it was months ago. I’m sure we can make it through these weddings without banging each other in the limo. If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine. His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine's comfortably seated in the hall of lame. When he's not snagging fly balls out in center field, he's modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing. Fun Love Story!
Larkin was the owner of the bakery and helping out at the bed and breakfast. Deacon rode into town on his motorcycle and took a room at the inn. Everyone in town knew everyone's business. I had to laugh-out-loud at the time she went into his room to clean and found a pair of handcuffs. She wanted to see how they felt and cuffed herself to his bed. She accidentally knocked the key off of the table and couldn't get herself out of them. Well, all he** broke loose with the gossip in that little NC town. Meghan Kelly and Oliver Clarke did a fantastic job with narrating it. They drew me right into the characters. Both did a super job with both male and female voices.

Fun and Captivating
I enjoyed every second of this genuinely sweet and heart wrenching story. It is filled with tons of heart and overflowing with more family and friend interventions then you can shake a stick at. What a beautiful and quirky town that gives us wonderfully captivating and deeply touching journeys of the heart and soul. This was such a breath of fresh air that I sighed a few times while listening to it. :) Refreshing, moving, and honest are just a few words I would use to describe what an intoxicating story this truly is!! Meghan Kelly and Oliver Clarke did a fantastic job bringing this story to life! They made me feel so much for each of these amazing characters, and I never wanted it to end. The only better thing would have been these two authors narrating the story in duet mode. That would have been pure magic!!!! I would love to listen to these two again.

Sugar and Spice!
I loved the softness of Larkin's character and the holding back that Deacon practiced in the beginning of their relationship. These are well suited and easy to enjoy characters. The story was interesting and listening to how the two main characters fell for each other and their realization that they had in fact fallen in love was wonderful. I also loved the dual partnership of the two narrators, Meghan Kelly and Oliver Clarke - both have lovely voices which are easy on the ear and they made this story come to life beautifully. In fact, this is one of the better voice partnerships that I have listened to. I requested and listened to the audiobook version and my review is voluntary and unbiased.

another insecure heroine
I was thirty mins in and the heroine already annoyed me. For someone who worked hard and owned a business, she sounded dumb. The hero lured her into having a date and she went for it! What a dumb girl! Right or wrong, she should at least made him work for it. Instead she went to that "date" where she was supposed to apologize? like i said, i couldn't continued after this scene. The four stars was for the male performance. The female's voice sounded raspy, thus, annoying which made her character worst.

Meh
Deacon Locke was almost perfect. His nomad lifestyle made since given his upbringing. He was honest, patient and understanding. Larkin confused me. I don’t understand how she could be a confident business women and still be extremely insecure. Deacon owned/rode a bike but he wasn’t a “biker” so the references to that lifestyle were irritating. She didn’t seem so insecure (when it came to men) in the other books. The previous books mentioned that she was only about 10 lbs heavier than her twin so I don’t get the “body image” issues...especially when you’re not physically doing anything to change that image. I get that it’s a small town but these people are just nosey as hell and overly involved in each other’s lives. I’ve lived in a small town before, these folks are a bit intrusive.

Disappointed
I enjoyed the four books previous to this one. I read the other reviews so didn't expect too much BUT as it's the last in the series, I figured I should finish. How disappointing! First, female narrator doesn't match the male's. Second, Larkin is written as a meek, shy and weak character. Low self esteem, criticizing herself constantly and not exactly written as a bright person. This is a supposed 30 yr old woman who can't seem to figure out how to talk, dress confidently or think for herself about anything. Utterly ridiculous. She owns her own business for gosh sakes ,and she can't even figure out for herself whether or not she wants to sleep with him. She calls her sister for answers! Maybe the author meant for some of Larkin's behaviors to be quirky and funny, but she failed. Not funny or quirky. I can't stand it when writers cast female characters as submissive, passive and full of self doubt. I really wish the last book in the series had a stronger finish. So you should finish only for the sake of it being the last not for the great story.

Get a great Listen
This story is part of a series . Final story in the series but it can be listened as a stand alone . I haven’t listened to the others in the series but once I saw who the narrators were I had to get it and listen to it . The story line is interesting. Heroine is is Larken. Hero is Deacon . Deacon is a line biker a former service man that doesn’t grasp the idea of staying in one place . Larken has a life and family in Whynot North Carolina. She has a bakery helps her brother out at the bed and breakfast. She can’t imag life away from the town . Both Deacon and Larken at the beginning seem that they won’t fit together but as the story continues you see that they are perfect for each other . They keep each other entertained and keep each other on their toes . There is one incident in the story that Larken goes and snooping in Deacon duffel bag , what happens there will have you howling with laughter. Meghan performance in that incident was unbelievable. Deacons receives bad news about his had and he has to travel back home he does something that not only shocks himself but Larken ,,,,, Deacon invites Larken to go with him . Grab the story and see how Deacon family reacts to seeing Larken . Really enjoyed the performances of both Narrators . Their storytelling was fantastic beyond 5 stars . Can’t say enough of Meghan performance, both Narrators have a strong , smooth and clear voice . The way both Narrators did the characters were spot on

story = 3 1/2 stars
Gimme Some Sugar was more of a 3 1/2 star read for me, but I've rounded the rating up to 4 stars because I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to this series about the Mancinkus siblings all finding their HEA's. It is finally Larkin's turn to find love. I did enjoy the relationship that developed between Larkin and Deakin, but I did get a bit tired of her constant second guessing herself with regards to Deacon and how difficult she found it to believe someone like him could be interested in someone like her. She is very self conscious at times, and often appears nervous with the hair pulling gesture. It was sweet how Deacon picks up on these gestures and does his best to make her more comfortable in the moment. He does make it very clear that he finds her extremely attractive just the way she is. The audios of this entire series have all been very enjoyable to listen to. Great narrators, with some of the audios having multi POV's. Stephen Dexter performing Herman in Barking Up the Wrong Tree (book 3) is still my favourite performance of the series. A lovely epilogue to wrap up the series and the Mancinkus siblings. It was just super sweet!
