Not the book for me.

Would you try another book from Ruth Field and/or Ruth Field?

I would not. In fact, I wish I had known that her first book was called "Run, Fat Bitch, Run," because I would not have bought this book in the first place. I just think Field's message is fundamentally one I disagree with.

Would you ever listen to anything by Ruth Field again?

No.

How could the performance have been better?

Actually, I kind of enjoyed her performance.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration. I felt like she went over such obvious topics like "don't watch so much TV" and "obsessing over the lives of celebrities is useless."

Any additional comments?

If you are a chronically disorganized person who has very little self-discipline, this book might be helpful. If I was to sum up the book entirely, it would be "how to play Alec Baldwin's talk from Glengarry Glen Ross in your head constantly."

Coffee is for closers. We know that.

At the end of the day, I think she was trying to solve a problem that I just don't have.

I have my own slew of "absentminded professor" problems, but being obsessed with X Factor or which celebrities have botox is just not my issue.

Comedy?

This is an edgy self help books, categorized incorrectly (in my opinion). It is repetitive, and I had a hard time finishing it.

Just the kick in the butt I needed!

This is not a book that cushions the corners, so if that is what you want look elsewhere! Straight to the point, no excuses manifesto and rallying call! I listen when ever I need a booster shot of gumption.

Down to earth....

Great delivery and to the point. For those of us who hate fluff and only want to get straight to the "fine print", this is it. I like it and it energized me to "GMST" in other areas of my life, like my closet. Now I'm Kon Mari-ing my house because of this book.

The Best Book For Getting Out Of A Rut

I recommend this book for anyone who wants to make any major or minor changes in their lives. This book is straight forward and no nonsense. It gives you practical, realistic advice on how to really get yourself going.

Not only did I enjoyed the content but it was written fantastically. The reader and author was a pleasure to listen to.

uninspired

after so many positive reviews I thought I'd give this a go. wish I hadn't bothered.
Nothing new here. If this is your first purchase it might help. If you suffer from long term disorganization it's very basic.
The only advice is get off your ass because anything is better than nothing.

How many times can she say the word shit

Contains nothing new except for constant use of the word shit and being tough with yourself.
Old time management theories are re cycled with constant use of the word shit.
Nothing to view here. Move along

Enjoyable

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would, it is a quite enjoyable book, she says things we all know but that are nice to be remembered of.

It's a book you can read many times.

I don't agree with everything she says, but most I do.

Would you be willing to try another book from Ruth Field? Why or why not?

Yes I would, she's nice to be listened to.

What about Ruth Field’s performance did you like?

Yes, she does read the book putting all her heart into it.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

I don't think so.

Can't get through it. Half way through it.

Tried to pick it up again, 3 times... But its just not for me. It's not the humor that I can not appreciate, because I like a bit of rude and raw. But overal, its the strict and punishing voice too overruling for me, personal. And the anti therapy vibe is going down the wrong pipe, for me. All together a bit to "negatively brought" for this law of attraction lover. Sorry

Full of little gems

Although written for the woman reader (using female pronouns - I am a man) this is a great audible listen containing much useful advice. The enjoyment of listening increases as it progresses. Never mind the occasionaI swear word as the content and presentation is very good. I am certain to listen to it all again as I am sure there will be benefits in doing so.

How not to be quite so English

I find Ruth’s voice very cheering - she is really “strap up jolly old chap” English. I decided this book might help me with my divorce. However I think the book is mainly written for middle class English women who have an overly healthy sense of themselves. I already smile at strangers, love my job and no, I will not give up lists. I tick everything off my lists and they are super useful. I don’t need a GYST Faciliator, my daily lists work really well. There are some really humorous anecdotes, but I have to say the women in my life- and, I have discovered, me, are thankfully not as navel gazing or envious as the targeted reader of the book. I just kept thinking of posh, slightly pathetic,
English women.
Is there a subtext you’re trying to hide, Ruth?

Couldn’t finish

Damn near impossible to listen to, the reader sounds so negative and makes you feel very unmotivated
