Publisher's Summary

There are three things I know about New York so far: everybody is late for something, nobody has a freakin’ clue what sweet tea is, and King Kong himself is still alive and well and has taken the form of a growly blacksmith named Mac.

This is no shifter story, and I’m not his prey, although I wouldn’t say no if he asked for a little taste. I’ve been saddled with interviewing with the beast to secure my new dream job in publishing, but his intense stares and monosyllabic responses are making my job impossible. I just need to get this over with and move on to navigating my new life and career. I’ve got this, right?

But my professional and personal challenges are proving bigger than I realized, and Mac might be the only one who truly understands this game. He’ll be my biggest ally if I let him, and the way he keeps saying my name makes me really want to let him. The thing is, this city is known for breaking hearts, and it doesn’t care if you’re the new girl in town or the beast who calls it home.

Game Changer is a slow-burn, stand-alone romantic comedy with an emotional punch.

Opposites attract

Mac and Poppy are complete opposites, add in some humor and you have a perfect match.
There is a perfect balance of humor and romance.

Poppy leaves the south and moves to NYC which she believes will fulfill her dreams. That is until she meets a man.

I highly recommend this book!

I voluntarily listened to this on Audible.

I couldn't put this down.

Sometimes I found myself laughing out loud in my car while driving to and from work. I loved how strong Poppy was and I have to say Elle surprised me.

Quirky and fun!

I listened to this, and the narration enhanced an already fun story . Poppy was such a quirky character and Mac so broody. I loved the way their relationship developed and how they were together. I really loved the way the author portrayed all of the characters, including the secondary characters - she really brought them all to life.

Super fun rom-com with a side of southern sass!

I simply loved this hilarious, laugh-out-loud, opposites-attract romantic comedy! Poppy is quite the spitfire and truly amusing with her southern walk and talk, even though she’s downplaying her roots as she tries to secure a job at an up and coming magazine in NYC. She’s energetic, fun, and naïve in a good way… and just what catches the eye of Mac, the hot and sexy blacksmith. Mac is the polar opposite of Poppy, and prefers to be a recluse, out of the public eye, as he broods over his work and damaged past. Sparks fly when these two collide and it’s a rollercoaster of a ride as their relationship blooms, with added hiccups along the way, overcoming the obstacles to be together. On a side note…I had quite a few belly laughs from the iced tea vs sweet tea references… so funny! I really enjoyed the humor and storytelling of this author, and look forward to more of her work. A new to me narrator, Meg Price, hit it out of the park with her performance… nailing the accents as well as the sass and spunk of Poppy and the growly, brooding disposition of Mac. Her secondary voices were really well done too. Very fun listening experience!

A definite Game Changer

I love the dynamics between Poppy and Mac. Poppy is a go getting and set on making it out there and Mac seems like a recluse hiding from the world buried in his baggage and pain. In comes Poppy like a burst of fresh southern air and changes Mac’s life. This a RomCom that will have you busting in a fit of lighter and raging in anger. I definitely recommend this author. This is my first time listening to both the author and narrator and absolutely loved it!!!

Worth it

I love a Sylvie Stewart! Her characters are fun yet real. I fall a bit in love with each one. That being said, this isn’t my favorite trope. I’m in not a huge fan of “broken men.” I always find myself thinking, I would NEVER let someone do/say that. However Sylvie did it again. Mac is lustworthy and even made my heart strutted more that once.

Southern charm in New York

Fresh from Georgia for a big publishing job in New York, Poppy feels the need to conform to be taken seriously. Let’s just say Poppy is at her most entertaining and best when she lets her southern show. Mac has a past he doesn’t talk about, not that he says much anyway. I loved Poppy’s optimism and how she draws Mac out of his shell. One of many quotes by Cookie Rutledge featured is “ secrets are a lot like gas they come out one way or another “. I couldn’t listen fast enough when everything fit the fan. The narration was great as was the story. I will be looking for more from both author Silvie Stewart and narrator Meg Price.

Poppy and Mac!

Poppy has left her home and family in Georgia and ventured to NY to follow her dream of working at Warbey’s Home Living Magazine. She is adjusting to a much different life than the one she left behind and trying to fit in isn’t without its challenges, but meeting Mac could be her biggest challenge of all.

Mac is a man with creative heart who excels at building things with metal and his hands. He is gruff and believes that actions speak louder than words, so his mannerisms say so much more than his voice. For a man who doesn’t like being around other people he is drawn to Poppy in a way that he has never felt before and can’t deny.

These two are like oil and water but couldn’t be more perfect for each other. Humorous banter, hot chemistry and two characters that you can’t help but love. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and though the narrator did a great job with Poppy's southern twang and Mac's deep timbre.

Fun

The Game Changer is an enjoyable contemporary romance. The characters are fabulous and engaging. Mac, a broody alpha male, meets his match in Poppy, and her fiery personality. Their encounters, along with their battle of wills, were entertaining, and the chemistry was off the charts. Overall, this was a fun listen with some twist and turns.

Meg Price did an excellent job with the narration bringing the characters to life. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Better Than Sweet Tea!

Game Changer by Sylvie Stewart pulled me in from the very beginning. I loved how the author wrote the humor and the slow burn steamy relationship of Poppy and Mac. The story also has tender and tragic moments, laugh out loud humor, vivid imagery, and some endearing characters. Meg Price was fantastic with her performance. She was flawless in switching from a Southern Accent to one without, and gave the characters distinguishable voices. I found Poppy to be a feisty and compelling character, who moved from Savannah to NYC, yet kept her quirkiness. This book truly is amazing! I loved it.

This is fantastic

I very nearly died listening to this one I’ve laughed so hard. The humour is amazing, the characters are so well written and the narrator was so very talented. There is just enough of everything in this book, drama, humour and oh so swoon romance.

This is a book that’s needed in your library a perfect laugh out loud book.
