The title is such a great metaphor for this book!

Susan May Warren teaches about the "Why nots" for a hero and heroine getting together and the two in this story have some of the most why nots I've seen in a book in some time! Yet Tamera Alexander expertly helps us see how this unlikely couple might indeed end up together in the end. I saw there were 200+ reviews of the book on Amazon and there is a reason for that! Great narration, too, by Robin Miles. I was so very glad I had this book to listen to while I was recently ill--I'd thought I'd listen to all of Tamera's books after I started listening to them about a year ago. Was I ever glad to discover that this gem hadn't yet been "read" by me.

Not what I thought

Slow moving, VERY slow. Didn't like the narrator. I don't think I'm going to bother finishing this book.

Moving Word Pictures

I loved the way Tamera Alexander painted the scene so you felt like you were standing across the valley from the cliff-dwellings or looking at the twin sister mountains to the Rockies. I could imagine myself out west, being a pioneer along with her characters. The book remained suspenseful without seeming forced and her characters were inspirational, giving me quotes to remember and live by.
I loved this book and enjoyed listening to parts of it with my children.

Good Christian Reading

This is a great story with fabulous characters, but is produced by Christian book company. Wish I would have known that. I was not comfortable with the numerous religious/spiritual references in the story.

Good historical novel

Excellent book. Kept my attention throughout and made me ponder, how we are so quick to judge when we only know one side.

Powerful Historical and Great Plot

Tamera Alexander exceeds her usual blend of history and fiction in From a Distances. This story stretches across the country pulling the decades together into a place where we can see and feel God building faith.

Not only this author use true history, not today's made up history, she she shows the different sides of conflict in a God-like view . Who knew you could learn about the War Between the States with a story set in the Rocky Mountains.

Excellent!

The Great Adventure

Thank you so much for writing stories that involve the greatest and most exciting adventure which is that journey of discovering Gods will in our lives through Christ. May God continue to guide and bless your life and work.
