What was one of the most memorable moments of Within My Heart?

The realization of knowing that the giving of your heart to another when you have experienced the sorrow of losing a loved one... is worth the risk of experiencing sorrow again as the joys of loving someone give more purpose and meaning to life.

Have you listened to any of Robin Miles’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not. But Robin Mile's as a narrator...she is extraordinary! I will seek out more books with her as the narrator!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes...but having a book to read..even for just minutes at a time..and to look forward to when time avails itself to me...I find most therapeutic!

I am very impressed and touched by the spiritual depth and intuitiveness Tamera Alexander imparts in her writings!

Rachel. She is a strong woman who wins over adversity.

How could the performance have been better?

This narrator did an ok job, but the hissing sound she makes when she says ''s" is VERY annoying!

Protecting Her Heart

Rachel Boyd is still healing after losing her husband in a terrible accident a year ago and now trying to raise 2 boys on her own and keep the ranch she and her husband wanted to build for their boys. She is too delicate to allow anyone else to enter her heart again, as she and her husband were best friends and very much in love. It will take a very special person to help her see she can have a second chance to share her life with someone.

Rand Brookston is a respectable doctor in this growing Colorado town, single, occasionally needing an assistant. Enter, Rachel Boyd who assisted her own father who was a doctor and see the sparks fly...

Uh-oh, wrong kind of sparks right at first. Lets see him break the ice. At the same time, the six novels altogether that Tamara Alexander wrote on the Colorado territory are intertwined with the stories of these two, with other characters in the book.

I love the way TA does this. Her stories are written in such a fashion so you can get wrapped up in each story and finish the book if you can't continue, but at the same time, you can pick up another one and continue another of the books to find out just how another piece of the puzzle fit from the previous novel. Very interesting indeed!

Excellent story and enjoyed it immensely. this story kept you interested. very well written. fantastic!

Historical accuracy missing

Would you listen to Within My Heart again? Why?

Safety on a pistol in the 1870s? Rubbing alcohol a common household item? These distractions were annoying, especially since the storyline and characters are written as though a very young girl wrote the book. Not recommended.

Dealing with fears..

Tamara Alexander poses an unspeakable trajedy that almost derails a good man's life. A woman bereft also has life stopping fears she must overcome. The working out of each character's growth is most satisfying to listen to from Audible.

Best one from the author

I've listened to most of Tamera Alexander books, going so far back - was a pleasant surprise to find such a tender, soul searching account of grief and loss. The characters are wonderfully developed - even the smallest, "non-significant" role-players. This is a beautiful account of how the community can be transformed if just one person does not live "minding their own business". Facing our own fears, forgiveness, living according to the true calling are beautifully and "humanely" approached in the story. The Christian element was strong and present, without becoming a sermon. The Narrator!! I wish more of Tamera Alexander's books were re-narrated by this voice talent.

Loved the series. Each novel is a stand alone. But since you get to know all the characters its nice when they return.
