From the celebrated imagination of Dean Koontz comes a powerful reworking of one of the classic stories of all time. If you think you know the legend, you know only half the truth. Here is the mystery, the myth, the terror, and the magic of...

Every city has its secrets. But none as terrible as this. He is Deucalion, a tattooed man of mysterious origin, a sleight-of-reality artist who has traveled the centuries with a secret worse than death. He arrives in New Orleans as a serial killer stalks the streets, a killer who carefully selects his victims for the humanity that is missing in himself. Deucalion's path will lead him to cool, tough police detective Carson O'Connor and her devoted partner, Michael Maddison, who are tracking the slayer but will soon discover signs of something far more terrifying: an entire race of killers who are much more - and less - than human and, deadliest of all, their deranged, near-immortal maker: Victor Helios - once known as Frankenstein.

I enjoy Dean Koontz's works, and this one is no exception. Well written and nicely developed characters.

However, after investing 9 hours, the book just ended. Not at a natural break point, but right in the middle of a number of streams.

I hate it when an author does this. The next books are available, but I don't think I will bother going on.

Pity.

Part One With No Closure

I just finished a few of the Jane Hawk books, and realized that I should have posted a review of this series, because it was great. Books 1-3 were the best, and while 4 & 5 were good, 1-3 were great, and you could stop at the end of book 3 and be content.

Great series, one of my favorites

Truly a rarity! One story you can get lost in and never want to stop driving..

Do wish the reader was a little bit better but overall the story itself makes up for the bland reading.

Dean Koontz at his best

I’m a very big fan of Koontz, but I’ve not read a Koontz book for years. This book was so incredible. I thought it would be a rewrite, maybe a reimagining, but it was more like a continuation, more like the truth behind the legend. I loved it and I’m going to continue the series. I would recommend this book to just about anyone who can stand some mild violence and some very minor Frank talk about sex. Pun ‘tended.

I never expected to love it.

I loved the way the author picked up where the original Frankenstein left off. Ok, a couple centuries later. I wish it hadn’t ended so abruptly. I realize there is more to the story, however, a little more closure of some aspects of the story would have been nice. What if I did not know there were more books?

Great story, not such a great ending

Such a great audiobook! Well narrated. Great story. Well developed characters! Perfect! Now I am looking forward to hearing the other books!

Perfectly eerie!

The book is performed with a Boris Karloff/Igor voice which is quite annoying and detracted from the overall experience.

Story is ok, performance not so great

love the story. Frankenstein retold in a manner that's easy to understand, liked the narrator, but didn't like the character accents.

Koontz is awesome at story telling.
