Publisher's Summary

Alexis Carter is a long way from home, and she doesn't quite understand how she got here. All she knows is that she died once, and now she's alive.

She's woken into a nightmare, trapped on a dark ship full of terrifying aliens. With their silver skin and fire-colored eyes, they look a lot like the monsters that once attacked her on Earth.

One Kordolian in particular stands out.... He's huge, he doesn't talk much, and his job is to guard her.

From what, exactly?

The voices inside her head?

Contains mature themes.

Loved this book

I was so happy to see the leading lady was a black woman. I am also a black woman and get frustrated with the lack of diversity in the scifi and fantasy genres. I think the book was good and I was sad when it ended. I can't wait for the next book to come out. I really enjoy the universe that Anna Craven has created with this series as well as the Dark world books.

Great addition to series!

I’ve been entertained by this entire series and this audiobook was just as good as all the others. The heroine is a law enforcement officer who had to leave Earth because there was a bounty on her head for killing a Cordolian of the old empire. I think to get the most out of this story, you need to listen to the whole series. The hero is assigned by General Tarik Arkadian to take care of the heroine, who has another spirit living in her head. In a previous book, the heroine had died in an attack on her way to an Earth colony. She was used as a vessel for the alien spirit who’d been living in Enki’s head. Reanimated, she’s kind of lost. The heroine and hero become very close when they travel back to the spirit’s home world to try to free the spirit. I won’t get anymore detailed. There is a happy ending! Narration was great, except I missed the voice of Tarak from previous books.

Another Good Continuation

I liked the new character and look forward to seeing where the new turn of events takes the story. Like hearing about previous characters too, especially "the silent one" and "the general".

This series is just boring.. I’ve tried but no

This whole series has just been slow the author just doesn’t capture the audience and we have no vested interest in the characters. Despite this being a romance there is no real chemistry been the h/H. No real conflict that makes you root for the couple. The women are just weak and one dimensional

UNDERDEVELOPED ROMANCE

I'm a huge fan of the narrator JF Harding. He can do no wrong. Unfortunately, he can't save a bad story either.

I'm so over the OTT Insta and lack of relationship development. I like my romance to have some build up otherwise it's pointless. This author and series are not for me.

Another great story

I so enjoy listening to this series. Great stories with lots going on, it isn't just a romance although it is at least half of the story. The narration is also really good.
Warning though, this book leaves more threads hanging than some of the previous stories in terms of the action. The couple do get a HEA for now. I am assuming there will be another Alexis and Nythian story.
I guess I should say that although the cover photo shows a black woman, and there are references in the story to her being black, she could have been any race in terms of her actions, speech, etc. This wasn't an issue for me.
