Acerca de esta escucha
We all have mountains to conquer and in the process of climbing them, we find that we're really conquering ourselves.
By stepping beyond my comfort zone to discover what I was made of, I learned some valuable lessons about habits, discipline, mindfulness, friendship, challenges, attitude, mindset, comfort, mental strength, and my perceived physical limitations. Listening to this audiobook, you’ll learn a lot about them as well!
Hiking the 48, 4000-foot peaks of New Hampshire's White Mountains changed my life forever. It taught me more than I could ever imagine, and my quest can teach you a lot too.
Have you ever wanted to embark on a life-changing adventure, but felt too scared to do it? I decided to embrace the unknown and took on the enormous challenge, the difficult and rewarding journey, and the exciting venture. I’m forever glad I did.
Take a walk with me as I climb mountain by mountain, and experience the lessons and takeaways learned from each peak I summited.

I learned a great many things on the hiking trails of America. One of the most important is that we all climb mountains. Every. Single. Day. I thought I was just hiking mountains. What I was really doing was learning valuable lessons that I could equate directly to life. Hiking thousands of miles over perhaps hundreds of mountains all over the United States teaches you a lot. With that said, you don’t have to be a hiker to enjoy any of these revelations.

As a park ranger with the National Park Service's law enforcement team, Andrea Lankford led search and rescue missions in some of the most beautiful (and dangerous) landscapes across America, from Yosemite to the Grand Canyon. But though she had the support of the agency, Andrea grew frustrated with the service's bureaucratic idiosyncrasies, and left the force after twelve years. Two decades later, however, she stumbles across a mystery that pulls her right back where she left off: three young men have vanished from the Pacific Crest Trail.

The real stories behind the scenery of America’s national parks. For 12 years, Andrea Lankford lived in the biggest, most impressive national parks in the world, working a job she loved. She chaperoned baby sea turtles on their journey to sea. She pursued bad guys on her galloping patrol horse. She jumped into rescue helicopters bound for the heart of the Grand Canyon. She won arguments with bears. She slept with a few too many rattlesnakes. Hell yeah, it was the best job in the world! Fortunately, Andrea survived it.

On a mountain somewhere above treeline, in some of the coldest and worst winter conditions imaginable, two men lie unconscious in the snow as explosive winds batter the nearby summits. In The Last Traverse: Tragedy and Resilience in the Winter Whites, Ty Gagne masterfully lays out the events that led up to an epic and legendary rescue attempt in severe and dangerous winter conditions in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. More than a cautionary tale, it is a tribute to all the volunteers and professionals who willingly put themselves in harm's way to save lives.

To become the best bowhunter of wild elk, to the caliber he believed he could be, Cam realized he would need more than archery skills.

Joe Simpson, with just his partner, Simon Yates, tackled the unclimbed West Face of the remote 21,000-foot Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes in June of 1985. But before they reached the summit, disaster struck. A few days later, Simon staggered into Base Camp, exhausted and frostbitten, to tell their non-climbing companion that Joe was dead. For three days he wrestled with guilt as they prepared to return home. Then a cry in the night took them out with torches, where they found Joe, badly injured.

Late the following day, rescuers carried her frozen body out of the mountains amid some of the worst weather ever recorded on these deceptively rugged slopes. At thirty-two, Matrosova was healthy and had already summited much larger mountains. What went wrong? Where You'll Find Me offers possible answers to that question.

A transformative journey with a friend, philosopher and poet!
What value would you place on a journey which changes you for the better? Matt’s journey not only changes him but because of his philosophers mindset, Poetic vision and deep desire to connect in friendship with the world and all of us who share it; this journey can become transformative for all of us. Josh delivers the perfect tone to bring out mats voice in this audiobook and the lessons learned our ones I will seek out several times in future readings. Each of us is ultimately responsible for what we take away from life and from such an opportunity as buying and reading this book. I am grateful I made the choice.

Deeply Personal and Relatable
When my wife sent me a link to this book I was thinking Ok... another hiking book. I'll get it to keep her happy... and I'm glad I did. The stories and life lessons shared are relatable and reminds me so much of my own experiences in The Whites. The book also inspired me to keep pushing toward my goal if completing the 48, that I've been pushing if for years. we'll be giving hard copies out for Christmas this year. Very well done! Thank you!!
