Publisher's summary

Part human. Part witch. Totally dead.

My transition into the Shadow Bone clan has been less than smooth, with my drag queen ex continuing to break protocols. On top of juggling my unusual family dynamic; my bloodthirsty mentor and vampire leader are at odds about my future as a death dealer.

When the coven high priestess unearths a prophecy about a medieval witch that transitioned, and was lost to blood madness, Rene and I hunt for a scroll that depicts her. After another attempt on my life and the death of a clan member, we believe this conspiracy predates the Lycan war, and another is coming.

As my power intensifies, and more vampires are targeted, will I choose between the coven that raised me or the clan that despises me?

Find out what prowls the shadows of Black Blossom County by reading Forty Proof and Dead, the new Paranormal Women's Fiction series fans are comparing to Shannon Mayer, K.F. Breene, and Victoria Danann.

Forty Proof and Dead

The second book in the Rise of the Blood Witch/Magical Midlife Death series. Raven St. Clare's saga continues along with Rene's help she still has a mystery to solve of what happened to her. I enjoyed listening to Katie Hagaman narrate this story.

Entertainment

I like how the main female character is a witch but a vampire. The design of this book would make a good tv show. I look forward to read more from this series.

Edge of my Seat

Picking up right where the previous book left off it was so easy to jump back into the Magical Midlife Death series. Raven is still and understandibly so, adjusting to her new life. I am continuing to love the cast of characters and the world building. I am on the edge of my seat for the next book. The narration made the characters and world come to life, it added to the storytelling.

Great Instalment

This is the second book in what is shaping up to be a fantastic series I am well and truly hooked, Forty Proof and Dead continues the story begun in book one and tells us more about Raven’s journey as a new member of the undead. Raven and Rene are looking for answers to why she is continually being attacked.

At the end of this book, almost everything is up in the air as the answer to why Raven is so different is sought and we are left with even more unanswered questions that have arisen about the background story. The romance element of Raven's story is kept low-key and is still a slow burn.

The characters are all well-drawn, and the flow of the story is good and includes a few surprises but the author leaves us wanting, more and waiting for book three.

The narration by Katie Hagaman is well done and added to my enjoyment of this original and. different story.

Great Story!

I love the stories written by this author. As such, I found myself listening to this book late into the night just to see what would happen next. The prophecy in the story line has me intrigued and I can’t wait to find out how it plays out. This book promises to be one of my favorites as each of the characters in the story are truly intriguing. Rene, the vampire overseer, is absolutely a complete mystery and I look forward to reading more about him and his life and how that ties in to Raven, herself. The narration by Katie Hagaman is absolutely excellent and I highly recommend listening to her narration. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Raven

since Raven has been turned nothing has gone right as the witches are trying to kill her because of a prophecy. Everyone has an agenda for Raven.

It’s ability to hold your attention.

This is the second part to series and yes definitely have to be listened
to in order.
This one takes off where the first one finishes.
I found it was an absolutely page turner that is full of drama suspense action
and a hint of romance.
The narrator has done a brilliant job of bringing the book alive.
Be warned finished up on a cliffhanger.

Great continuation of the story.

I enjoyed this part of the story. There definitely is no shortage of action. I enjoy how strong Raven is and that she keeps proving people wrong that underestimate her.

Great Addition To The Series

I had the pleasure of reading this version and now that I have also listen to Forty Proof and Dead I enjoyed it even more. This is the 2nd book in the “Magical Midlife Death Series.” As Raven continues on her journey with her life of being a witch turned vampire she wants answers. Rene can’t seem to understand what Raven is going thru. Rene is attracted to Raven and she unconscious of his attraction to her.

As usual Tia Didmon comes thru with a great plot and her characters are great. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

I received an audible ARC via Booksprout and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Heavy Action & Hardcore Friends

Gleeful Goblin Review: I'm thrilled with this second installment of this series. Following a mature heroine who is figuring out her new life, new powers, and old friends is a fascinating journey. I love urban fantasy with mystery/thriller undertones and this series is doing an amazing job of blending those genres for me. I've loved each new installment, especially this one where new friendships are deepened, especially between Kassarra and Raven which is such a highlight for me. Lots of fun, can't wait for the next story. 5/5 Stars.
