Publisher's summary

Before he was freed by Neferet, Kalona was imprisoned within the earth for centuries because of the Darkness in his heart. But what happened to the Other World's Kalona? It's as though he's been forgotten, or maybe he never existed at all....

In the present, Other Neferet may have left her House of Night, but she has far from given up her goal of immortality and world domination. As she operates in secret to gain access to Old Magick, the new High Priestess, Anastasia Lankford, works toward peace and acceptance for the vampyres of the Other World. But just as Other Kevin's broken heart will take time to heal, peace in that world will also take time and work - and not all of the Other World vampyres want peace. After all, why should they return to being shunned by humans, especially when they've had a taste of how it feels to be in power?

Meanwhile, Zoey is desperate to help rid the Other World of Neferet once and for all, and not knowing what's going on over there is eating away at her. But, as the Nerd Herd warns, it's far too dangerous to call on Old Magick time and again. As a distraction, she throws herself into her work and attempts to bring the humans and vampyres of Tulsa closer together with the first human-vampyre swim meet in history! It's too bad that something always seems to go wrong whenever the stakes are high.

What happens when worlds clash and powers that should be left alone are awakened? Can Other Kevin and his world heal from the wounds Neferet continues to inflict? Can Old Magick ever truly be harnessed and used for good? Or will Darkness extinguish Light and leave our heroes broken, hopeless, and as forgotten as Kalona of the Silver Wings? Don't miss this second-to-last volume in the House of Night Other World saga!

UnHappy with the Author and Editor

First let me say that I have been a fan for more than a decade and have loved this world for a very long time but I truly hate that P.C. and Kristin Cast insert their own political veiws into the story line. I think it is not only inappropriate but also immature and completely "unattractive" as Aphrodite would say. Of course she is not the only one saying these awful political statements and trust me that makes me re-think all the other main characters intelligence as well as hers, but she is the most vocal probably because she is the most outspoken in all of the series. In the original HoN series she was the only person that said anything political but that was because of her Dad. Of course I will always love her and root for her even though her character has been used for "not nice" purposes. I have loved the HoN world for many years and have reread the series multiple times and I reread everytime a new book comes out. This is my first time listening to this series as an audiobook but I never remember any serious political put-downs in the original series. I would ask that in the future that P.C. and Kristin (by the way my name is Kristina) would keep their personal veiws out of the books they are writing. The Republican put downs really have no effect on the story line and could be left out. All of the political veiw points could be left out and it would not change the storyline at all. I feel that all or at least most of them are digs against Republicans! You will lose faithful readers like me if it keeps up in any of your other series. Just because I am a Republican does not mean I am a bad evil person. (I know that I am a Republican and I have read and loved your world for a very long time) and I dislike listening or reading a story where someone is intentionally forcing their political veiws on me through a fictional character. I support and love everyone no matter their veiw points on politics. I will never try to shove my beliefs on to someone just because I have a platform to do it.

Good but not the escape readers want

As a huge reader I was severely disappointed. the voice actress was absolutely amazing however the author disappointed me. We use books as an escape from reality and the political opinions were even worse than this book than any other. I do a line with much of it however it has no room for being in a fantasy book. "Make Tulsa Great again"?! That's an obvious political statement and "My parents still vote republican" among many others was way unnecessary. Regardless of what line any of us are on it again has no business being in a book series like this, it was an in appropriate place to push political views and put down other people's. I have been a House of night fan since high school and was so excited about seeing new novels that were released. The writing has always been a little awkward however I did like the storyline quite a lot. The characters are not relatable nor as majestic as I hoped and the pushing of "Okie" in it were over the top however again the story and effort is what mattered to me, this is why I always bought the books up until the last few years. I rooted for P.C. Cast and it seems like her thoughts are if my fan's minds are different than mine then I don't need them. The sad thing is my mind is similar to the ones being pushed but not to the extreme of hating or putting down another group like this. I'm disappointed. There are so many good parts of these books but the writing of the "Okie" pushing, politics and ahole characters made it hard to truly get engrossed.

The HON Other World keeps you on your toes!

There are so many things to love about the Other World and its characters. In Forgotten I love that you get to see a different Kalona. The sacrifice his brother makes and the even larger one he makes changes everything. Kalona gets to be a hero instead of the bad guy seeking redemption.

It is amazing how changing one moment can have a domino effect on everything around you and the Cast’s do an amazing job creating just that in this story. Even though the otherworld’s Neferet is more evil she is also softer. She forms a solid friendship with her handmaiden and a few other humans, her counterpart hated humans. It is so hard to understand how they become so awed by someone so evil but it adds an unexpected dimension to her.

I cannot wait to see what happens next!

Absolutely thrilling!

The female villain, Neferet, was as beautiful as she was cunning! I have high expectations for her in the future. Grandmother Redbird was everything with her words of wisdom and knowledge.

Political

I am so unsure as to why every aspect of life, it has to be mentioned at least once, the divide between political parties. That has nothing to do with vampires, but somehow was written into the story line. Leaving it out would not have changed a single thing about plot or story line AT ALL.

An enjoyable listen

P.C, and Kristin Cast's continuation of "House of Night" returns for a third instalment. Focusing more on the alternative reality of Tulsa, which I personally enjoyed that narrative more than the original reality - mainly because the narrative was progressing a lot further than that storyline. This felt more like a build-up to a finale and focused primarily on the aftermath of grief, which had some great scenes. I am definitely interested to see how this series will conclude with the fourth book.
