Hockey is everything. My game, my team—that's all that matters. But an accident during the playoffs leaves me sidelined and puts my future in question.

With my teammates off enjoying their vacations, my only plan this summer is to heal and come back stronger than ever. No distractions. No babysitters. I want to be left alone.

Unfortunately, Everly Kent has never cared about what I want or need.

She barges in like a storm. Stubborn, sassy, beautiful. I don't want her in my space, but she's determined to take care of me.

Before I know it, she's under my skin in the best way possible and I'm bending all my rules for her.

Including one I never thought I'd break: falling for my teammate's little sister.

I put off listening to the last of the Wildcats series because I truly did not know if I could handle it ending… welp, I finally finished listening and I am sobbing!!!
Rebecca did such an incredible job with ending this series in the best way possible! I was so worried that Everly being so young in the previous books may make her relationship with Jack weird but the age gap and friends (frenemies) to lovers WORKED 👏🏻
I laughed, swooned, cried, and fell for this found family even more!!! I 1000% recommend this series 🤩

I have been impatiently waiting for this book since Everly was introduced in this series - I just KNEW that we were going to end up with Jack and Everly together!

🏒Hockey romance
🏒Teammates little sister
🏒Grumpy x sunshine
🏒Age gap

When Jack gets hurt and is left to fend for himself during the summer, Everly takes it upon herself to check up on the brooding man. She is able to worm her way, not only into his pool, but into his heart and soul!

This slow burn romance takes us on a journey from friends to so much more. I loved how we got to see them finally find their way to each other after one hot, hot summer!

CJ Bloom and Sebastian York are the dream team cast for narrating Everly and Jack! CJ brings out the sass and independent Everly, while Sebastian has the brooding hockey captain to a T.

Grumpy hockey captain Jack Wild met his match in his teammates sassy little sister, Everly. Sebastian York and CJ Bloom did a fantastic job bringing these characters and their personalities to life. I loved the book, but the audiobook was even better. This pair of Allstar narrators took an already great story and elevated it even higher.

When Jack is in a car accident and suffers what could be a career ending injury, he locks himself away to rehabilitate and be alone. Everly has other plans. She can't resist his pool because it's the best on the block, and one day using it turns into every day and continually being in Jack's presence. She wants Jack and she's determined to make him want her too. What better way to get under his skin than to prance around in her bikini? She's fed up with his surely ways and self loathing and pushes him until he snaps and finally makes her his.

The banter and chemistry between Jack and Everly was strong and passionate and the narrators delivered their connection perfectly.

My first Rebecca Jenshak book and I am hooked!

Overall Thoughts: I listened to books 1-4 in this series earlier this year, and though it was complete, so you can imagine my delight and shock when I saw the opportunity to listen to this book. I started it as soon as it dropped in my inbox and blew through it in one afternoon. This audiobook was so good, and easy to listen to, I was surprised when I got to the epilogue that the book was nearly over, I was able to get so lost in it. If you love hockey romances and enemies to lovers, plus brother’s teammate, then you definitely want to add this book by Rebecca Jenshak to your TBL for 2025. CJ Bloom is always an immediate add from me, and I love what she brings to the character. Sebastian York has been a long time favorite, and he was great as Jack, although I felt his voice sounded a little bit older than I imagine Jack’s to be, but nothing that took away from the story or performance.

Narration: Dual narration, first-person present tense, multiple POVs

Tropes: Hockey, brother’s teammate, injury, grumpy/sunshine, age gap, secret relationship, interior designer, dislike to lovers, she bosses him around, he falls first, cute niece, he breaks her heart

Overall: 5
Spice: 3.5
Humor: 3
Drama: 2.5
Darkness: 1
Narration: 5

When Jack is injured in a car accident, he goes down a path of pushing everyone away, but Everly isn’t having it. With all his teammates and all her friends gone for the summer, the two strike up a deal where she will help Jack with things that are difficult for him, and she gets to use his amazing pool.

As the summer progresses, and they spend more and more time together, their attraction grows, until they finally cross that line between friends, and more. When things seem to be getting serious between them, he pushes her away, and she leaves for her internship without a goodbye.

When Jack realizes what he’s done, and wants her back, he fights for their relationship, but with it being new and uncertain they decide to keep it a secret from everyone, especially Everly’s brother, who already suspects she is seeing someone and keeping it a secret.

Great ending to a great series
