Story
You belong to me and I know it down deep, in muscle and bone, where my wolf lives. Avery Rhine isn’t an average homicide detective with the Chicago PD. In fact, Avery isn’t an average anything. Sure, as an omega he knows he’s at the bottom of the food chain, but that’s never slowed him down. He’s got a great life, complete with a loving family and a best friend who’d take a bullet for him, so what more could he possibly want or need? Except, maybe, for the world to change.

Collin didn't think vampires were real - until he met Talon. Talon's fangs are razor sharp, and his touch feels like destiny. He makes Collin's knees go weak and his brain go soft. When Talon bites him, Collin forgets everything - even that Talon's coven wants him dead. Him and his adopted siblings. It's something about those birth marks they share, something about a prophecy.

Story
When I gave up life as a hitman, I thought everything was going to be better. I was going to become a PI, help people, and live normally…and then I met Jeremy, the most perfect man to have ever saved my life (I mean, he might be the only one who has saved my life, but he’s still the best at it). From that point on, it was all over for me - I knew we were meant to be. The issue is that he doesn’t…quite seem to realize that. But when he’s targeted by criminals (literally, someone just shot at his head), he needs to rely on someone, so why not me?

Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

“You are the savior of mankind” are the last words I ever expected to hear while nibbling on fries. The thing is, I’m not mankind saving material. I don’t even have magic (and just found out it exists). I’m the most boring, normal(ish) human ever. Suddenly, I’m being tossed right into the middle of a fight that started years before I was even born, and then I get partnered up with Alastair, a quirky magical Guardian. He is rather attractive and sweet when he’s not into the whole “woe is me, I can’t let myself fall in love with you” nonsense.

I hope the Audios will continue to be release
I am in love with this series and was wondering why the audios suddenly stopped being release. After doing a bit of research I found out that sadly the author suddenly died not too long after this one was released in audio form. I really hope that they continue to release the other books in audio form in her memory, I think she had written over 20 for this series. Please keep it going.

Least Liked in the Series
Would you try another book from Sandrine Gasq-Dion and/or Greg Boudreaux?
I will probably finish the series as I'm already so far in. However, if there more issues in the next book like there were in this one, that will likely change.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
**SPOILERS**
1. There is a transphobic joke said once and mimicked back. It completely threw me. There was no point for it and it was disgusting. Both Caden and Kellan have secrets. Near the beginning of their relationship, after having sex, Caden says "There's something I need to tell you" and Kellan says "Did you used to be a woman?" Caden laughs and says "no", to which Kellan responds with "Then I don't care".
This has no purpose to the story, and implies that if Caden was a trans man, then Kellan would have an issue. Even though they just had sex, he had no issue with anything, and apparently the "mate gods" have deemed these two men a match and going against your mating pull seems to destroy you.
It was a disgusting attempt at humour and I am incredibly disappointed in Sandrine. If it was supposed to be a joke it could have been anything. "Are you really a one eyes, one horned, flying purple people eater?", "Do you eat thousand year old eggs for breakfast?", "Do you collect Faberge eggs?" Literally anything would have fit just as well and yet we get a gross, transphobic joke. When writing in the LGBTQI+ genre you don't make jokes at the expense of part of that group!
2. There is a pointless threat. It is revealed to Caden that Kellan is a wolf and is threatened that unless Caden leaves Kellan, Kellan will be exposed by Carson. Apparently Carson is pissed that Caden said no to his company for building projects so obviously breaking him up with his boyfriend is perfect revenge. Carson doesn't say anything else really. No "don't talk to anyone" or anything. Just a basic "if you don't do what I say I'm giving this to the media".
Caden is supposedly an incredibly savvy business man. However, he doesn't question why Carson is so cool and calm about people turning into wolves. This guy in an architect, not a US secret agent. Caden knows both of Carson's sons through work, and he knows that one of their husbands has known Kellan for years. Does he talk to Carson's sons, even vaguely, about the issue? No. Does he go to... whichever brother knows Kellan and ask "hey, you've known Kellan for years and years. Is there anything about him that might be a problem if it was released to the media?" No. Of course he doesn't. He doesn't look into it at all. He just picks up and leaves for France. And based on how insanely readily they open up about the "we're wolves!" it makes even less sense why the discussion wasn't had right away.
If Sandrine wanted to actually play with the conflict of the media getting wind of werewolves she already had Kellan dating a millionaire and had paparazzi in the story. She had every opportunity to utilize them as a conflict. Instead there is no point to this threat, other than apparently to get all the wolves addicted to French pastries. It was more like "I need a reason for Caden to go back to France" and just threw in this half-baked plan that amounted to nothing. Caden has plenty of internal drama that could have chased him back home without needing to use Carson as some really sad "villain". It made Caden seem like he had zero reasoning skills and made the whole conclusion nothing but a big eye roll.
What about Greg Boudreaux’s performance did you like?
I always like what Greg does. I think he did the best be could with a lesser quality story.
Do you think For the Love of Caden needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. But it's part of a series that follows different couples around anyway so in a way it already does have follow-ups.

l'amour est dans l'air (Love is in the air)
What made the experience of listening to For the Love of Caden the most enjoyable?
Aside from the Author's amazing storyline, Boudreaux's fantastic narration. He enunciated Caden's french accent flawlessly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of For the Love of Caden?
Even reading the book I was always moved by Caden's need to protect Kellan that was stronger than any preconceived notions about reality. It doesn't faze him for very long when he learns Kellan is a wolf, more so, it's Carson's threat Caden fears.
What does Greg Boudreaux bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brings the characters to life in your mind. Of course, the Author does a great job of that with descriptions and characteristics but, actually hearing the different accents and vocal tones really makes them more three dimensional, makes them more real.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It was but it took a couple of days. Now I want to listen again!
Any additional comments?
My e-book review from December 2012...
We first met the sultry French billionaire, Caden Fournier in book 5, when he forged an unlikely friendship with the young Quinton brothers, Grayson and Xander. Having played cupid and assisted in reuniting them with their mates, Taylor and Jagger Drake. He picks up his life and moves to Seatle in hopes of finding something different, something new… someone actually. The man that will love him and not his bank account.
Werewolf Kellan Brady has been waiting for what seems like a lifetime for his one true mate. Imagine his surprise when his mate lands in his ambulance with a broken leg and a bad attitude. Thankfully Kellan’s boss and alpha, Dr. Alexander Romasko, is the attending physician when they bring Caden in. He’s not thrilled that the brutish but sexy Frenchman is his mate at the moment, but he still doesn’t trust just anyone to care for him.
Weeks pass and Caden can’t get thoughts of Kellan out of his mind, he dreams about him, in an attempt to smooth the waters he lavishes him with gifts only to have them returned unopened. He doesn’t think he’ll ever get to apologize, then a chance meeting brings the two face to face and undeniable attraction takes over, leaving them in each other’s arms and never wanting to let go. Enter Carson Drake, the anti Christ in wolf form!
Caden and Kellan each have a deep dark secret, one that they’ve kept from each other. Carson plays them like a violin and tears them apart as his only goal in life is to destroy the wolves and all the packs after being removed as the Queets alpha and exiled. And he’ll destroy anything in his way and everything the wolves love if at all possible in the process.
Once again all our favorite Assasins and Shifters are back to assist their fellow brother and friend to protect his mate, the man he loves. But even this group of deadly lethal brothers, friends, lovers, assassins and werewolves can’t always win.
